Hughes in that second fight came in wanting to prove he could stand with GSP, thus why only one take down attempt.
This fight Hughes will come in with a good game plan that will rely on take down, take down, take down. Difference Between Hughes an Kos is that Hughes will slam GSP if thats what it takes to get him to the ground.
Lets not forget that Hughes has beaten better wrestlers and is incredibly strong.
With this short notice can GSP keep defending the take downs and the pace Hughes pushes to get the fight to the ground. Will his cardio be there for a 5 round fight.
I don't think it will Hughes tko round 3.
Hughes becomes Champ again, GSP goes to the back of the line for the next 2 years. I only say that because if Hughes beats Serra, an decides to fight again at ww GSP will not get another shot as long as Hughes is champion.

The key to the fight's going to be GSP's takedown defense. It was great in the 2nd fight and frustrated Matt, forcing him to fight GSP's fight. Matt's going to need a good gameplan and stick with it. I can honestly see this fight go either way. |
What 2nd fight did you watch? Click the link and watch it again... Hughes only attempted ONE (1) taked own the entire fight.

Matt attempted several take downs. Not just one. He shot at least twice and got inside and tried clinching with GSP several times.
GSP was defending against them using his reach advantage, stiff jab and kicks to maintain space.

Hughes comes in to this fight in top shape and has a better gameplan. He wont try to stand and he will take GSP down and win this fight.
Hughes wins and then will destroy Serra and probably retire.

If Matt accepts he can't win the stand up and just tries to work the ground, he'll win. I also think he will go on to beat Serra, retire and go down and probably the best fighter in the history of the weight class
