| HUGHES/GSP I and II breakdown
Sorry for the Typo in the title Hughes/GSP....
I just watched Hughes/GSP I & II and here is the breakdown refresher coming into Hughes/GSP III... You can see both these videos now at the following link. http://www.cagetoday.com/
Hughes/GSP I- This was a back in forth 1 st round, GSP stand up is definitely better than Hughes, especially when he caught Hughes with the spinning side kick, that hurt Hughes for sure... But the key to this match was the take downs by Hughes... The first take down came with a nice slam, but didn't amount to much offense as GSP's excellence defense aloud him to get up... The second take down by Hughes aloud him to fight his game, with some nice strikes, while trying to move to side mount. GSP then tried to work the Kimora, only to have Hughes slide over the head, and lock in a slick arm bar and a quick tap out by GSP.
Hughes/GSP II- This fight can be explained with three letters... GSP... Nice stiff jabs, leg kicks, high kick, and GSP even threw in a couple of nut kicks for good measure (I have to admit, good sportsmanship by both after each nut kick). Only ONE take down attempt in round 1 by Hughes... Round one ends with GSP ROCKING Hughes.
Round Two... ALL GSP, big punch Hughes down, and GSP just mauls him... GSP with a DOMINATE performance in this fight... looked unbeatable!
So what can we expect with Hughes/GSP III, I see Hughes going for many more takedowns, and see GSP trying to keep it standing, though GSP can win it on the ground... I foresee some real FIREWORKS in this fight, and this card as a whole... I AM STOKED BABY!!!
JRUBE predicts... Hughes by GNP round 3.

id love to see hughes try to stand with GSP again. for some reason I love seeing 'the queen' getting his head bashed in. Heres to hoping GSP doesnt come into this one injured as I think he did in the the first GSPvHughes fight... Seems whenever a fighter takes a fight at this level on that mush short notice always has some nasty injury....

I give Hughes much more of a chance than other people. I think it will be back and forth in the first 2 rounds with GSP winning on the feet, and Hughes working takedowns and control. But I think GSP will end up catching him in the 3rd Round.

I give Hughes a good chance in this one. If he learns from his mistakes and gets the takedowns frequently, along with bashing GSP with some old school gnp, he would most likely win in my book. But if Hughes comes in there thinking he's a boxer and that he can trade with GSP (again), he's getting KTFO. Either way, I don't see this going to decision. My prediction is still GSP though. My opinion may be biased because he's one of my favorite fighters but hey, what can a man do?

imo this short notice shouldnt be tooooo bad for GSP because he has already trained for Hughes twice (and not much has changed in the positive direction for Hughes on the main parts of his game) and he just faught Koscheck... both of them are wrestlers with average stand up... (Hughes is worse than Kos) I think what GSP needs to do is actaully use his striking to set up his own takedowns like he did with Kos... but I see GSP coming in to finish this by the 3rd at the latest.. I think Hughes will be mentally broken by then
GSP TKO Rd. 2 and your new Welterweight Champion... Serra wont be able to defend his title anytime soon im thinking so this will ultimatly be for the real belt... as long as GSP keeps his head on strait and not let the fame get to him he wont lose that belt for as long as Anderson has his... but dont twist my words on me i am not saying he is as good as Silva but he will be as dominant if he keeps his head right and im betting GSP moving to the Jacskon camp is just that making sure he doesnt get too big.. he just needs to train alot with Rashad for this fight because he is the Hughes upgrade 2.0

There's no need to worry about GSP and the short notice. The guy keeps himself in phenomenal shape.
The key to the fight's going to be GSP's takedown defense. It was great in the 2nd fight and frustrated Matt, forcing him to fight GSP's fight. Matt's going to need a good gameplan and stick with it. I can honestly see this fight go either way.

Matt's not gonna change his gameplan, though I definitely don't see him trying to stand up with GSP nearly as much. He's going to try like hell for takedowns, pure and simple.
GSP by TKO, Rd 2.

Hughes will be going for more takedowns, but his stand up isn't a threat to GSP at all, which makes it much easier for GSP to focus on defending the takedowns.
He knows every time Hughes throws a punch a takedown attempt will be following, and I can't see any other result other than a 3rd or 4th round stoppage for GSP.
