i wish fighters would learn something about Muay Thai
all these sloppy ass leg kicks, and they never follow up. if you're going to throw leg kicks, make them count and keep throwing them, leg kicks are supposed to be thrown from bell to bell to wear him down
andif you were already throwing leg kicks, set up and THROW the fucking head kick.
and despite them being legal, nobody throws standing elbows, not many guys make use of the Muay Thai clinch, etc. etc. i cant wait to see Wanderlei clinch someone and open his dome up with elbows from the Thai clinch.
and there all these fucking one dimensional guys keep getting fights, when they know nothing about BJJ. they fight pro, but somehow after a little over a year of grappling, i am probably a technically superior grappler. they miss obvious openings for submissions, dont set them up at all, apply them at the wrong time, etc. and there is nothing i hate more than a one-dimensional guy, especially if he can't grapple. we learned at UFC 1, the importance of grappling, but i guess they still dont need it. ridiculous.
now the average fighter would probably rape me in grappling, because of the difference in terms of strength and athleticism, but technically, why should they be behind me in terms of skill? they fight full time, train full time. i certainly dont. watching Kongo on the ground is fucking painful, and a reason why i hate watching him fight.
Cro Cop made the proper evolution as a striker in MMA. knock him as one dimensional, but its ok, because that means you've never seen him fight.
Fedor and Gonzaga couldnt pass his guard. Cro Cop passed Kongo's nonexistent guard in seconds. Cro Cop also sprawled hard on Kevin Randleman and Coleman. neither took him down once. ive never seen anyone stuff Coleman like that, ever, and even Randy Couture couldn't stuff Randleman's takedowns.
really, im just tired of seeing guys that suck at certain aspects of the game, that continue to. if you cant stand up, and you've been at a camp for years and they haven't at least made you capable of taking care of yourself and KOing some lower level guys standing up? maybe you should move, or get someone to come in and train you.
if you suck at grappling, then bring in a BJJ coach. a world class one, with a world class BJJ team to train grappling with. Kongo went from just laying flat on his back in "guard" while Marrero held him, to fighting Assuerio, where he was laying flat on his back in half guard, with no clue how to use it. same against Cro Cop, who mounted him.
bottom line is, people should strive to be as good at everything, and constantly improve every aspect of their game.
