The prosecutors of UFC veteran Din "Dinyero" Thomas dropped the charges on Friday for organizing Illegal MMA fight.
Thomas had produced an event whereby his students got the opportunity to fight as there is no amateur circuit and his students aren’t quite up to professional standard, but off course need in ring experience to progress within the sport. This being the second event Thomas had put together had off duty officers in attendance for the event in which they were just watching the bouts. No problems came about with the event as Thomas had no indication from the officers that there was a problem, until a week and half later when Thomas was contacted by authorities to be notified for his arrest, Thomas shocked & puzzled as all of a sudden it was spread all over the tabloids about illegal fighting and notification of his arrest by officers who were in attendance at the event.
A formal investigation had taken place about these allegations against Thomas and Jeff Hendricks who is the Assistant State Attorney spoke to the Palm Beach post & stated that the State Attorney’s office had decided against filing any formal charges against the UFC veteran.
Thomas has been very disheartened by this situation as he feels he is trying to contribute to the sport by giving the amateurs a platform whereby they can possibly make a full time living of MMA as a career, but due to the laws in Florida this is restricting him to do so and feels is necessary to build the sport up from the roots.
Thomas can now get back to business with his own career with this situation being put to bed and having successful knee surgery the future couldn’t look better for the American Top Team fighter as well as the camp with the likes of Antonio Silva who has just signed a long term deal with Elite XC along with Murilo "Ninja" Rua after his victory against Xavier Foupa Pokam at Cage Rage 24: Feel the Pain on Saturday, Thiago Alves victorious along with team mate Marcus Aurelio who was also victorious at UFC 78: Validation and confirmed for January UFC PPV Wilson Gouveia will look to notch another win on his belt when he tackles Jason Lambert at the Metro Arena in Newcastle, England.
Hope this hasn't already been posted....couldn't find it, so here it is.
It's good news for Thomas and MMA as a whole...they don't need the bad publicity!!!
