|  Dana White confirms Sean Sherk to Face winner of BJ vs. Stevenson

According to a story from Thomas Gerbasi posted today at UFC.com, Sherk (32-2-1 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will face with winner of the fight between BJ Penn and Joe Stevenson which headlines UFC 80 on Jan. 19 in Newcastle, England.
According to White, from the UFC.com article:
“I have nothing but respect for Sean Sherk and I believe he’s been honest throughout this whole process,” said UFC President Dana White. “But BJ Penn and Joe Stevenson will be fighting for the lightweight title at UFC 80 on January 19th and Sean Sherk will fight the winner for the title.”
Sherk was stripped of his belt as a result of the California State Athletic Commission failing to overturn his suspension due to a positive test for the anabolic steroid Nandrolone, more commonly known as Decadurabolin. Sherk tested positive for the steroid after his July 7 title defense in Sacramento, Calif. where he defeated Hermes Franca.
On Tuesday December 4th, the commission cut his one-year suspension to six months, but upheld the $2,500 fine and the positive test result. Sherk is now eligible to fight again on Jan. 3rd 2008.

I don't like the fact that Sherk is getting an immediate titleshot, Dana should make him earn it again (imo).

Let me see if I have this straight...Sherk's punishment is that he has to fight Penn or Stevenson for a title fight? So how is this different from having the title and defending it from a number one contender such as Penn or Stevenson? I hope his purse is a lot smaller than whomever he ends up facing.

Sherk should at least have to get through someone like the loser of the title fight, Griffin, Huerta, or Edgar.

This is one of the stupidest moves by the UFC...
What are they thinking? "We'll set a good example and strip Sherk of the belt for using 'Roids... But then he'll get an immediate title shot and a chance to back exactly where he was in the first place"
So moronic, either strip the guy, and tell him to fuck off, or leave him be and let him keep the belt. This looks alot like Sherk is getting a chance when, if it's true he did use 'Roids, he shouldnt be getting one!
It sends a bad message about the strictness of the drug policy in the UFC...

This is going to set a bad example for people getting popped with roids.

It's dumb to give someone an immediate title shot after something like this....its basically like he's never even been stripped... In sherks next fight he will fight a 5 round fight, winner leaves with the belt...that would be the same scenario as if he had never been stripped.
Dana white is fucking stupid...
