| The British Bark: British Fighter calls out Kimbo Slice Quote:
THE BRITISH BARK
By Stash Capar (stash@thefightnetwork.com)
Cage Rage heavyweight Robert “Buzz” Berry (11-7) has called out one of the most controversial characters in the world of mixed martial arts, street fighter turned mixed martial artist Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson (1-0).
“If he wants a slice of me, well let’s get it on,” said Berry. “See you in the cage.”
The Pro Elite organization owns both the Cage Rage and EliteXC promotions, of which Ferguson is currently contracted, so the YouTube.com legend could very well step up to Berry’s challenge. Though Miami, Florida native Ferguson has had but one professional MMA bout, he is seen by some as a promising prospect, and would have much to gain by defeating one of Britain’s most recognizable faces, especially in front of Berry’s home crowd.
Berry, on the other hand, may be biting off more than he can chew. The Cage Rage standout had a successful career fighting for the London-based promotion, but 2007 definitely wasn’t his year, which leads some to view his challenge as a move of desperation.
Last February, Berry defeated Team Trojan fighter Mark Buchanan (6-5), and was all set for a tilt with a man he regarded as his dream opponent – the 350-pound behemoth known as Bob “The Beast” Sapp (8-2-1). The match-up never materialized, and Berry retired for reasons unknown, only to come back at Cage Rage 24 this November, where he was defeated by rising heavyweight Neil “Goliath” Grove (5-0).
“I was seen as just a stepping stone for the Goliath,” says Berry. “They all got it wrong, as I gave the performance and fight of my life. Had it not been for the chest cold that seemed to spring out of nowhere on Saturday morning, I may have pulled it off.”
Ferguson is coming off his debut victory to Bo Cantrell (10-11) at Elite XC “Renegade,” held last November in Corpus Christi, Texas. http://www.thefightnetwork.com/news_detail.php?nid=5651 | This guys could be biting off more than he can chew IMO. I just want to see Kimbo against someone legit who doesn't piss their pants like Bo did.

Tank called him out now he has to deal with it. After that Id like to see him fight the Gogo machine Brad Imes or something. Perhaps that Neil Grove guy that knocked out James Thompson in like 12 secs or somethin like that.

It's name recognition. Fighting Brock Lesnar is something a lot of people want because he's a name. Records don't really count much but name factor does. Who really knew of Anderson Silva in the states until he knocked out Leben and then Franklin (twice).
Thas what ya gotta do in a sport like this and Kimbo is an accessible target atm.

Thas what ya gotta do in a sport like this and Kimbo is an accessible target atm. | Anderson was internationally known though, he made a name for himself in Pride.. for all the wrong reasons though.. he was a great striker in Pride no doubt.. but the Ryo Chonan fight is really what people know him for being that is one of the biggest upsets in MMA history.

That or asking them when the first time they heard of him was.
And yes I agree that was an upset lol. Highlight reel one though.
