on the vera topic about him being a legend in thailand. i try to keep up on full rules muay thai and watch the fights whenever i can get them and ive never heard of him being a legend or even fighting overthere. its possible hes had a few fights but to be a legend you need at least 100 fights. guys like scarboski (sp) and other guys from outside thailand spend years building up respect and in their culture it takes a lot to be a legend.

another thing is that their are not many thai fighters that would be fighting at the weight vera is because most of them are small thats just the way it works. im not sure what the highest weight class at the stadiums is but i think its smaller then 205. the majority if not all of the high level hw and lhw muay thai take place in western and eastern europe.

*Sighs* Like I said, I'm only repeating what a guy told me. Why wouldn't I believe him? After all, he just got back from Thailand!

Wether it is true or not, I have no idea... You and LA don't seem to think so, so maybe this dude made it all up.

No disrespect taken, I'm just trying not to look like a chump if it's not true...

If I remember right, the reason he was considered such a legend in Muay Thai was because he won some sort of championship or compeition at a very young age. We talked a lot, so I can't remember if he was referring to Vera when he said that, or if he was referring to Kid. He talked about them both, but I do know that he said that while he was training Muay Thai for six months over there, all he heard about was how bad ass Brando Vera is and what not. Who knows, but the next time I talk to him I will certainly make sure I get all of my information strait.

if you get the title and what weight class that should be enough to prove if he was bullshiting.

well basically how Mello said it was when he was a purple belt that one day this really chubby really un-athletic kid came in and rolled around. he was getting basically killed but wouldnt tap, (in the manner where he'd defend not just lay there without tapping). so after it he went straight to Carlson on his first day and was like "I'm gonna be one of your champions". and that was Wallid Ismael.

Mello also said durin the whole time he trained wit Wallid he never saw him tap

haha, good story. Yeah Wallid is like Don Frye and those who would rather lose a limb than lose their pride.
