I've heard them say the same thing in two different shows about Matt Hughes. I'm sure you'll notice how canned it is next time you watch a show. Maybe once everyone is all educated up they'll knock it off. It amuses me though.

Do you like Mike Goldberg and him saying "oh that was a good one" when a leg kick lands with the foot and it makes a loud dlapping sound and Rogan having to correct him and tell him that the slapping kicks don't hurt as much as the shin kicks and make a completely different sound.
Someone who gets paid to comemtate a fight you would figure would have more MMA knowledge.
Quadros is the man, him and Bas were by far the best duo ever in MMA announcing. |
Goldberg Sucks too, Quadros was just not excitting to listen to when there was great action going on he hardly rasied his voice,I like to hear the comendator get really excited when something big is happening.
Like in baseball watch the Whitesox comentador Hawk when dye hits a homerun he yells and everything but when an opposing batter hits a homerun he talks like someone just died, thats Quadros all the time.
Bas also is a very bad comentador, his jokes were bad his broken english was bad but, his is also very good in many ways I miss him.

I don't need someone screaming when something happens, i get excited just watching them try for submissions or knockouts, the commentator has little to no effect on me whether i get excited about a fight or not, i just want someone that knows what the hell they're talking about and isn't trying to make me think all kinds of shit is going on by screaming when i can see what is and isn't myself. If you need to that watch boxing and listen to Jim Lampley cheerlead for his favorite fighters. Quadros is a genius in this sport and has trained with many fighters in the sport plus has been training a long time before it. Anyone who has talked mma with him knows, he can make you feel like you just started watching yesterday. I'd rather hear facts about fighters then hear someone yell like they're at home with friends watching a fight. Stephen and Bas were the best barnone.

I respect your opinion, but commentators do help the game match or event even better
The best moments in sports include a commentator yelling or screaming.
So the next UFC event try watching it on MUTE.
I also like commentators telling me about the fighter.
Not saying Quadros didn't know what he was talking about, I am sure Jeremy Horn knows more that doesn't make him a good commentator,
I don't care if the commentator never trained mma fighters, as long as he knows his stuff.
And if Stephen Quadros is this commentator GOD why isn't he with the UFC?

because he used to be with Pride, a much larger organization with better fights, and he just commentated for the WFA, who undoubtedly paid him a whole lot
plus, you cant overhype UFC fights with a knowledgeable commentator. the average Pride fan watching the American broadcasts with Quadros and Bas knows MMA. they dont need Joe Rogan's screaming, and BIG ELBOWS BY HUGHES from mike goldberg.

And if Stephen Quadros is this commentator GOD why isn't he with the UFC? | Like i said some people need that, i don't as most hardcore fans don't like AJ said. I've already been down that road with putting it on mute for both mma and boxing but the problem is you're also muting the sound of the fights. There was an event and it might have been a smaller show i was watching, don't remember which, but the sound on their mics went out for a while and i'm not sure they knew but i watched a couple fights without them and it was great. Now i've just been watching these sports long enough where i can block them out if i want which is why i miss a lot of stuff that they say. As for why UFC never hired him is because they have their duo and they're loyal to them. They also choose animated (sp) commentators over strickly knowledgable ones.

Quadros is one of the best. He's the "Fight Professor" for a reason. He's one of the most knowledgable announcers around. He's worked for PRIDE, Cage Rage, KOTC, WEC, IFL, WFA, and many other organizations. You don't get jobs at all those places if you aren't a good commentator.

I liked Ryan Bennett's commentary on the WEC, ROTR and Strikeforce events, he doesn't get enough credit for his announcing. Most people only think about him hosting his radio show when his commentary was great also.
