Welcome to The Fight Network's live play-by-play of TKO 31 "Young Guns," emanating from the Bell Centre in Montreal.


FEMALE 130: Alexis Davis vs. Valerie Letourneau

R1 - Wanting none of Letourneau's striking, Davis opts to take the action to the ground. Davis works to secure submission after submission. Letourneau’s defense withstands the constant attempts till the bell.

R2 - It hits the ground fast. Davis immediately takes Letourneau’s back, but the Quebec native is too slippery to allow for a triangle to hold. Davis tries for an armbar, but Letourneau postures up, only to fall back into another triangle attempt and another escape.

R3 - Davis attempts to shoot, but Letourneau catches her with a right to the temple that drops Davis. Davis works from her guard to sink in another triangle attempt, which Letourneau escapes yet again. Davis continues to land hammerfists from the newly gained top position. Letourneau takes Davis’ back, but Davis easily turns out, using her hips to take her opponent's back.

WELTERWEIGHT: Yannick Galipeau vs. Josh Bitner

R1 - They exhange kicks. The two fighters clinch and Bitner gets the best of the dirty boxing exchange, landing uppercuts and stiff hooks to Galipeau’s ribs. Galipeau takes Bitner down, but the referee re-starts them standing. Another clinch and Bitner drops Glipeau with a knee and takes mount. Glipeau rolls out as the two rise to their feet again. Galipeau is landing punches at will, bloodying the mouth of Bitner. As Bitner shoots, Galipeau attempts a spinning back kick and ends up on his back. Bitner is in Galipeau’s mount, but Galipeau reverses.

R2 - Both opponents decide to test their hands with Galipeau landing first. Galipeau clinches and lands a knee that he follows up with left and right hooks. Bitner backs against the cage and can't answer the onslaught. The referee steps in with the stoppage.

FEATHERWEIGHT: Yoon Heo vs. Thierry Quenneville

R1 - After feeling each other out for 30 seconds, Quenneville connects with right and left hooks before shooting in to take Heo down. Heo reverses and works in Quenneville's guard. Quenneville sits up and the two fighters scramble to their feet. Quenneville slams Heo to the canvas and moves him against the fence. Heo is working hard to secure a triangle but Quenneville postures up. The referee steps in to stand the fighters up. Quenneville clinches and takes Yeo down again.

R2 - Quenneville is landing with jabs and leg kicks. Heo is backpedaling to avoid Quenneville's punches, but manages to connect with his own jab on the way. Heo is dropped with a Quenneville right. Heo scrambles to his feet and the two fighters clinch and exchange punches that do little damage.

R3 - Quenneville is connecting with the jab. He clinches and rocks Heo with a pair of well-timed knees. Taking Heo down, Quenneville loses top position. Heo is working side control but is doing little to avoid being stood up. The referee again brings both fighters to their feet. Exchanging leg kicks, Quenneville stuns Heo with a spinning back kick to the midsection that drops the Korean. Following up with a barrage of punches to the body, Quenneville is swept as Heo takes his back. The referee stands the fighters up again and Quenneville wastes no time continuing his onslaught, landing with a knee to Heo’s head and a headkick at the bell.

HEAVYWEIGHT: Lance Evans (236.8) vs. Bob Landry (250.2)

R1 - Landry feints with a handful of head fakes. Both opponents land glancing blows that do little damage. Landry attempts a takedown, but is stuffed by Evans. Evans lands in Landry’s guard and quickly passes to half-guard. Landry is absorbing elbows to the head, but manages to scramble to his feet. Evans executes a double-leg that puts Landry on his back. Punishing Landrywith punches, that go unanswered. Evans is pulled off by referee Yves Lavigne.

FEATHERWEIGHT: Ben Greer vs. Stephane Vigneault

R1 - Greer wastes no time in taking Vigneault down with a slam. Vigneault works an armbar then transitions to a leglock that Greer stifles with punches from the guard. Vigneault scrambles to his feet as Greer spins out of the kneebar attempt. Greer quickly executes a double-leg and works from the guard before being stood up by the referee. Vigneault now takes Greer down and lands with punches from the guard. Greer pushes Vigneault off at the hips and stands. Vigneault lands a stiff headkick and a jab before being taken down by Greer.

R2 - Greer takes Vigneault to his back, landing punches from full guard. Greer avoids a triangle attempt by posturing up and continuing to rain down punches on his opponent. Rolling to avoid further punishment, Vigneault’s arm is taken by Greer as he smoothly sinks in a modified armbar at 1:26.

WELTERWEIGHT: Chad Reiner vs. Stephane Dube

R1 - Reiner shrugs off a Dube jab and takes him to the canvas. Taking his back, Reiner sinks in his hooks and attempts a rear-naked choke. Dube swivels his hips and reverses, taking Reiner’s guard, landing punches in the process. Reiner postures up and takes his feet, then slams Dube into the fence and canvas. Working to pass Dube’s guard, Reiner is swept but rolls to recover top position. Again, taking Dube’s back, Reiner sinks a rear-naked choke. Dube taps out with one second left on the clock.

FEATHERWEIGHT: Mark Hominick vs. Danny Martinez

R1 - Hominick lands the first strike at 1:30 before landing a half dozen more to a bloodied Martinez. Martinez is dropped and left scrambling to attempt a single-leg. Hominick bobs and weaves avoiding every Martinez punch. Hominick lands a left hook that drops Martinez again, but allows him to get back to his feet before punishing him with more jabs until the bell sounds.

R2 - Hominick is picking his punches, inflicting cumulative damage while scoring with the jab. Martinez lands a pair of jabs of his own that leave a welt forming under Hominick’s right eye. Hominick seems to be toying with Martinez, patiently waiting for the opportunity to strike which comes with seconds remaining as he drops Martinez with a hook. Hominick follows up with shots to a downed Martinez.

R3 - Still light on his feet, Hominick is landing the jab at will. Martinez is dropped with a left hook. Back on his feet, Martinez is bleeding heavily as Hominick continues to abuse him with punches. Hominick drops Martinez. Martinez rises and Hominick floors him again. The referee stops the action to allow Martinez’s cornerman Drew Ficket to clean his fighter’s mouthguard he spit onto the canvas. The break in action doesn’t help. Hominick floors him for a third time as the action resumes. Hominick continues the assault until the end of the bout, as fresh as he was in the beginning of the match.

HEAVYWEIGHT: Steve Bosse vs. Icho Larenas

R1 - Bosse comes out the aggressor, blocking the hands of Larenas with his left while landing with his right – typical of a hockey fighter. Bosse continues to push the larger Larenas around landing several right hooks in the process. Larenas is dropped at 3:30 of the round but cannot entice Bosse to take the fight to the ground. Bosse waves Larenas up. Bosse continues to push the action to the bell.

R2 - Bosse advances, landing a few shots as Larenas puts up his hands to protest a foul. Referee Yves Lavigne allows Larenas time to recover from an unintentional thumb in the eye. Ringside physicians check the eye and after several minutes filled with boos from the crowd, Larenas decides to continue. Bosse wastes no time in resuming his incessant onslaught of rights, clinching Larenas as he pushes him into the cage. Larenas is winded and opts to clinch. Holding onto Bosse with double underhooks, Larenas lands a knee but is pushed away by Bosse. Bosse lands several more right crosses. Larenas hits Bosse with a short elbow. Another right by Bosse opens up a cut under Larenas’ left eye.

R3 - Bosse looks to continue to score with punches, but is taken down by Larenas. Larenas works from Bosse's guard and lands several shots from the top. Passing guard, Larenas punishes Bosse with lefts and rights forcing him to cover his face to avoid the shots before he turtles. With Bosse unable to intelligently defend himself, Lavigne calls a stop to the fight.
