| Karo talks possible fight in April and women in MMA http://mmajunkie.com/2007/12/17/karo...on-inside-mma/ Quote:
Outspoken UFC welterweight contender Karo Parisyan (18-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) was a guest on the latest installment of HDNet’s “Inside MMA,” and during the one-hour episode, he shared information on his next possible fight, as well as his thoughts on women competing in MMA.
The entire episode can be watched online at hdnetfights.com.
During the show, fellow panelist Sam Caplan (our friend at fiveouncesofpain.com) asked Parisyan about rumors that he was offered a fight with fellow contender Jon Fitch but that he had turned it down in fear of losing a possible title shot.
Parisyan denies the rumors.
“I was never offered a fight (with) Jon Fitch ever,” Parisyan said. “Right now, if I want a title shot, I can get a title shot right now — seven months down the line. But I said, ‘That’s too much of a delay, and I’ll get a lot of ring rust.‘
“I don’t want to wait for that long, so I’ll get a fight in between for a more guaranteed win. Jon Fitch? I still think I can beat Jon Fitch. I think I have more tools to beat Jon Fitch. I have tremendous respect for him, but I still think I can beat him… but I need an easier fight than Jon Fitch so I can basically have a high percentage of beating (the opponent) and getting a title shot.“
So when exactly will Parisyan’s next fight take place?
“I’m hearing rumors of April 1 at The Palms (Las Vegas),” Parisyan said. “Maybe either Thiago Alves or Marcus Davis — one of those guys. But like I said, I’ve never really dodged a fight at all. I’ll fight anyone. I’ll fight Fedor (Emelianenko) if I have to. Let’s put it that way.“
Parisyan was first promised a title shot two years ago. However, an injury forced the Judo expert out of a scheduled championship bout with then-champ Matt Hughes, and since then, Parisyan’s been trying to stand out in a crowded 170-pound division. With his win over Ryo Chonan at UFC 78, he’s now apparently been granted the elusive shot at the belt — according to him, anyway.
In addition to his fight schedule, Parisyan spent some time discussing his thoughts on women’s MMA during Friday’s episode of “Inside MMA.” And if you happen to be someone who supports or enjoys it, well…
“Look, I know all the women are going to hate Karo Parisyan now, but the cage is not for women,” Parisyan said. “Please. I mean Gina Carano is a very beautiful girl. I don’t know why she wants to mess her face up to get in that cage. For me personally, I do not want to see any girl get in the cage and fight. Come on.
“Can’t they do one thing that guys do and they don’t? Just one? Give me a break. They do weigh-lighting. They do wrestling. Not MMA, please. It’s too brutal for women.“
Although he complimented Carano’s victory over Tonya Evinger at a September EliteXC event and called it the fight of the night, he said he still doesn’t think women belong in the sport.
| i would love to see fitch vs karo.

"Maybe either Thiago Alves or Marcus Davis — one of those guys."
As for his feelings about women in MMA - I disagree. That's about all I've got to say about it, hah.

I hope Karo loses when he fights his easy fight til his title fight, I pray for it. Only because I think it should be Karo vs Jon Fitch for the number 1 contender spot.

I think Alves or Davis would be 50-50 fights for Karo. I'd actually pick Alves or Davis in a fight w/ Karo, but it wouldn't be a cakewalk for either fighter. I'm pretty sure Fitch would maul Karo, but apparently Karo wants to make us wait to see that.

It's funny how he says he'll fight anyone even Fedor but he's going to take a fight where his win percentage is greater, that's why he doesn't want to fight Fitch. Karo is a fucking terd.

I think Fitch will beat the shit out of Karo if they fight. Karo is right to pick a different fight.

| Karo vs. Alves
I would love to see Karo vs. Alves as it would be a good test for both. I don't see it being an easy fight for Karo at all.
