The dude can grapple his ass off, but his MMA potential is just about reached. And his politics, well, he gets hit in the head a lot.

Fair enough. I would like to see him vs. Fedor as well. It would definitely be a test for both at this point. Probably moreso for Fedor since he's been pretty much idle for so long.

As far as politics, again I am inclined to agree that he has a basic knowledge but limited view of the world in his ideas. His heart is in the right place, though.

He's a freaking so-called anarchist. He believes the whole world has been ruined by big business and oversized government. He believes that the only way for good to prevail is for all law and big business to be disbanded and the power given back to the common man. I think he misses the point with that idea, but whatever. It sounds good when preached correctly.

Being a bright guy doesn't justify his politics.... The whole anarchy and hammer and sickle is just plain anti American, and as a military vet I don't take it very well... He could at least say thanks to people like me who put their lives on the line for his right to freedom of speech.... Honestly... the anarchy and russian sickle things are way i love to see him lose so much.... just my opinion, and I earned my right to have it! :-)

Well, thanks for your service.

I think he's totally entitled to his views. The only problem I have is when fighters, entertainers, etc use their fame as a pedestal to somehow further their views and influence otherwise clueless people. That's all. Everyone does it, even the fucking Dixie Chicks.

Without trying to get this moved to Politics and Relgion:

1. I don't like it when people use "American" as a synonym for "good." There's good and bad in any nationality. And speaking of things as "un-American" harkens back to the McCarthy Communist witch hunts.

2. The US was actually founded on an un-patriotic rebellion against the government the founding fathers had sworn allegiance to. Agree with him or not, Monson is preaching rebellion against current governments for what he perceives as oppression. That's very much in line with the spirit of the Declaratiion of Indepence.

3. It is strange why an anarchist would have a symbol of the Soviet Union. I'm guesing he agrees with some of Marx's views on capitalism, at least in a corporate-controlled society, without actually condoning Soviet government strucutre. Or something like that.
