| Rich and Chuck....?
These two are in the same position right? I mean they both have upcoming fights against two really good fighters, but they both are nowhere near a title shot given that they both lost twice too convincingly against the top guy in their divisions. Even if they win their next fight, wouldn't people agree that they are both gonna be stuck for a while until either of them comes up with some crazy streak of at least 3 or 4 wins?

I think Chucks in a much worse spot then Rich to be honest.
Rich lost to the guy that many look at as p4p the best in the world, and lasted longner then he did against him the 1st time, and showed a bit of improvement. Rich is also in a good spot if Henderson beats Silva,I think Rich has a good chance of beating Henderson(or atleast a better chance then he does beating Silva)
While Chuck got turned into a highlight reel for Jackson and then lost to a guy that wasnt even top 10,and now hes fighting Wandy,if he can get through Wandy, hell pretty much be fucked again because theres a good chance hell have to fight the guy that already mauled him twice in Jackson.
While both are in kinda shitty spots,Chuck is in a really really shitty spot, whereas Rich is just in a moderatly shit spot.

Yeah Rich is way better off right now.
The MW division right now is crap, and while Franklin got his ass handed to him twice by Silva... besides Henderson there aren't really any contenders for the belt! Unless some miraculous up-and-comer shows up or talent gets transferred from another show we'll see those three go at it over and over again.
Liddell got KTFO at the peak of his popularity and KTFO bad! After this he gets whupped by a guy most people didn't consider to stand a chance, and that puts him in a worse spot than Franklin right now; Franklin worked himself back up to a title shot right after his loss but Liddell's hit a bump on the way back. If he beats Silva he probably won't get a title shot right away (remember TUF 7?) and the rest of the LHW division is stacked.
Right now Chuck is in a bad spot and he needs to bring his A-game from here on out.

I think Rich and Chuck no longer being champions, or serious contenders for that matter, is actually great for the UFC. It will force them to make interesting opponents for them, like Lutter and Wanderlai respectively.
Just like Pride had many top fighters who weren't champions but still drew fans, the UFC is going to have to learn to build there fighters this way - especially if they wish to hold so many events.

in reality nieithor of them are in trouble. there both former champions and the ufc will probably never let eithor of them go no matter what.
but with that said chuck is definatly in more trouble, hes older, the champ beat him twice, and 205 is so fuckin stacked now. chuck went from undisputed #1 to questionable top 5, or even top 10 depending on how u look at it. losing to jardine really fucked him.
rich on the other hand is still easily in the top 5 at 185. maybe bisping can come make a splash but other then that i dont really see anyone else beating rich other then silva or hendo. rich has beaten everyone ever put infront of him other then machida and silva, and their both monsters.

Rich is just trapped under the thumb of one excellent fighter. Chuck is older, his motivation is in question and there is an influx of fighters in the LHW division (and top ones are of the striking variety which never bodes well for Chuck). Chuck is in a far worse situation.

I totally agree that Rich is in a much better position. He has had no competition in MW with the exception of Silva. And it doesn't look like he is going to other than Henderson. I mean even with Bisping coming down, I don't think that he can beat Franklin...right now. Bisping will definately help out the situation. At least it gives some more depth to MW. Liddell on the other hand is in trouble. Whether the UFC keeps him around or not, I say if he loses to Silva he is finished by choice. But if he beats Silva and goes on a 2 or 3 fight win streak, then I think that Jackson better look out. Assuming Liddell could get by Griffin.

If you would consider being two of the most widely recognized faces in the fastest growing sport in the US a bad spot, then I would say yes. If you mean as far as nailing down a title, I think that time has passed them by. They both may still have some classic fights left in them.

I see either Anderson Silva or Henderson as the only fighters having the MW title in that division for some time to come.
Where as in the LHW division we have Rampage, Shogun, Wanderlei, Chuck, Forrest, Tito, Soko, Jardine, Rashad, etc ... They have some established good to great fighters already and many LHW fighters on the rise. I dont see the belt staying on 1 fighters waist in that division for a long period of time.
So yeah either way you look at it.... Rich is screwed in the MW division and Chuck is screwed as well but its not going to be easy for anyone else in the LHW division either.
