I think Royce was talking about how a BJJ guy can completely control the ground game off his back, getting the wrestler in numerous close sub attempts while taking minimal damage and still lose a decision just because he's on the bottom. You can see this in some of Nick Diaz's losses (granted his decision losses in the UFC were all VERY close fights that you could argue he did lose, but given how close they are I think the fact that the judges didn't give it to him a single time shows the bias in favor of top position).
