Middleweight star Yushin Okami defeated Anderson Silva by disqualification due to an illegal kick, sounds like he would like the opportunity to fight Anderson again and win more convincingly.

"I admit that I haven’t had the most exciting fights during my time in the UFC, From this point forward, I want to try making them more exciting, but not at the expense of winning. To do that, I’ve stepped up my training in standup in particular, learning how to push forward and effect more damage…. [UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson] Silva and I have unfinished business. I want that rematch because it feels like our first fight didn’t end definitively. I want to finish him, once and for all….. I’d like to knock him out, certainly, but I also really want to submit him. I want to take him down and force him to submit. I want to make him tap out.”

Okami's got as good a chance as anybody in MW aside from Hendo.

Yeah, but the gap between Silva&Hendo and the rest of MWs is pretty big right now in my opinion.

I think Okami needs at least one fight showcasing his whole new in-your-face attitude before that happens.

His stock isn't too high since that rumor that the UFC didn't even bother resigning him after going 5-1 with almost every top UFC middle weight.

My suggestion would be to match him up with Lutter. He would be the one opponent who the fans would side with Okami.

It's bigger than in other division, but this is still MMA and anything can happen. Okami has a rock for a head, very good takedowns, great strength, good sub defense, & great control. He also knows where his strength is, so he won't be testing his standup against Silva, he'll be trying to put Silva on his back from the get-go. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he beat Silva in a Split (maybe, Unanimous but I doubt it) Decision. Although i'd pick Silva to win, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Okami.

As far as I am concerned, let Okami do it.. win or lose against Hendo. Give Okami a match between now and then.. and if he wins.. he fights Anderson.


I still don't think Okami is a "boring" fighter.

If this match comes true you can bet he will be a little more cautious with his kicks. That being said if it goes pass the first round then Silvas chances get slimmer and slimmer the longer the fight goes. If it goes pass the third round then Silva is going to lose. A good fight all the way.

If he puts Silva on his back, whose to say the result isn't the same as the Silva/Lutter fight? For someone that was such a dangerous ground guy (good takedowns, good control, good subs), he ended up getting destroyed with bows while having top position. If Silva loses, it's to Hendo--no one else anytime soon.
