| Mccully Misses Deadline For Kongo Fight Quote:
SOURCES: MCCULLY MISSES DEADLINE FOR KONGO FIGHT
Sources within Justin McCully’s camp have confirmed the heavyweight missed a Wednesday deadline to accept a fight with French kickboxer Cheick Kongo at UFC 81 on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
While the UFC will look for a new opponent for Kongo, McCully can have the fight if he accepts before the Las Vegas-based promotion settles on a suitable replacement.
A physical specimen at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, the chiseled Kongo (11-3-1, 4-1 UFC) will enter his next bout with significant momentum. He has won back-to-back fights, including a unanimous decision victory over former PRIDE Open Weight Grand Prix champion Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic at UFC 75 in September. Though he has shown vulnerability against wrestling-based opponents, Kongo has delivered six wins in his past seven bouts, the lone setback a split decision loss to the American Top Team’s Carmelo Marrero at UFC 64.
McCully (8-3-2), meanwhile, has not lost a fight in more than seven years. He made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 9 in April, as he secured a unanimous decision victory over Dutch kickboxer Antoni Hardonk – a man who mirrors Kongo in many respects. A longtime training partner of former UFC light heavyweight king Tito Ortiz, McCully owns five submissions among his eight wins.

You know to me this doesn't make sense unless McCully is hurt badly right now. Out of the top 5 6 or even 7 guys in the UFC heavyweight division which guy could McCully take down and keep their for 15 minutes? Kongo he's the only one. If i would have been in the Mccully camp, your dreaming for this fight to get into top 5 of the heavyweights.
Anyone else think mccully should accept this fight now?

Why would he not respond in time? Its not like he has a ton of options in his booming career.

Really, Arlovski could probably take him down and heel hook him in about a minute.

Yeah, this fight had snoozefest all over it. And so does AA vs Kongo to be honest, but that really depends on which AA shows up. It could either be fireworks or the other way around.
I just want to see AA fight dammit.
