HOLY FUCK! I know there is probably a LOT of Hughes hate before and after this message and I understand that, but to be honest, I didn't have it in me to read everyones' posts. All I have to say is that this single exert has made me completely respect Matt Hughes and want to buys his book to read more. All the guy has ever done is been honest and straight forward, if to some that means he's a dick then so be it, to some people Matt Hughes is a dick. But to me that simply isn't the case.
Personally I think Hughes is a breath of fresh air in a fucked up world. If there is anybody around that I want a REAL opinion from I check out Hughes' stories or blogs. If there is anything I can say about the man it's that he's honest. I completely respect him. He never holds any punches no matter who he's talking to or what's on the line, he just tells it how he truly feels it should be told, that deserves incredible respect.
Matt Hughes should not be disprespected by so many as he is, but he should be honored for his truthfulness and his (albeit sometimes arrogent and sometimes self serving) attitude as it is one thing in this sport that has stayed constant. Matt Hughes has always been good for MMA and he always will be. The man has been one of the most dominent WW in history and after reading this exert i still recluctantly cheer for GSP.
Unlike most people on this forum, the more Hughes opens his mouth the more respect I gain from him. Not because he comes off as a "jerk" or "arrogent" but because Hughes comes off, to me, as a genuine regular guy who has accomplished reducluous amounts and on occasion likes to toot his own horn, but i mean if you were in contention to being labelled the greatest WW of all time, wouldn't you maybe read into your own hype just a little.
Regardless of what my opinons are or what you're opinions are, bottom line is that Matt Hughes is a true compedator and never turns down a challenge. Closing up, if you think that somebody like that should be hated for how he is or for his beliefs on the sport you're absolutely crazy because the guy has done so much for MMA just by living the career he has that's it's absolutely insane to even think about!
