Woman found in Davenport alley was victim of homicide / QCTimes.com
"The woman who was found dead in an alley in Davenport was the victim of a homicide, an autopsy revealed, though police are not saying exactly how.

Agnes McFedries-Kennedy, 51, was found Saturday evening lying in the alley in the 1800 block between West 7th and West 8th streets. A couple returning to a residence near the scene discovered the body.

Police are interviewing "people of interest" in the case, said Capt. David Struckman. A significant portion of the criminal investigation division is working case, he added.

Visitation for McFedries-Kennedy is scheduled for today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Her funeral will be Saturday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Family members have declined to comment. In her obituary, they said she had an "abounding sense of humor that automatically gave her a great, genuine almost perpetual smile." McFedries-Kennedy also had "abiding generosity. If she believed she had something you liked, it was yours, mattering not if it was clothing or a trinket, she would make you take it and in the end convince you that you were doing her a favor."

McFedries-Kennedy was the daughter of Quad-City auctioneer Scotty McFedries and mother of UFC fighter Andrew McFedries.

Seems like a good guy and certainly an exciting fighter... I hope he gets through it...

I'm tired of people being heartless fucking animals. I really hope these bastards get caught, and if not hopefully Drew gets his hands on them at least. I really hope he gets through this, we've seen with Vitor how a devastating personal tragedy can affect a fighter.

I heard that!!! This kind of crap makes me sick. All you hear about now are drive by shootings, robbery, murder......get a freaking job!!! We were just talking about this at work the other day. Very sore subject for me


My sympathies go out to him. Hopefully he will get through this. What a tragedy?

I feel so bad for him there is nothing like your mother, fighting should be the last thing on his mind. I hope that he wins the title now.

That's awful for him and his family. Hopefully he can deal with it emotionally and continue with his career; its a terrible tragedy, but it would be a shame to see one of the UFC's most promising MWs take a nosedive.

As great as this country is, its too bad we have all these bleeding hearts that will no doubt take up for these disgusting POS that did this, citing a troubled childhood, drugs, poverty, etc. If whoever did this is so jacked up that they justified (even temporarily) in their minds killing Ms. McFedries, I say catch these criminals and end their suffering via a .45 bullet. People have no respect for life and its depressing. Im all for 2nd chances on alot of stuff except something as final as murder. I believe the only suitable punishment for murder is death. Of course, IMHO. God Bless you Drew.

That's all well and good but it does nothing for Drew I'm afraid... His Mother is gone and no amount of retribution is going to undo that... Justice is meant to provide an intervention between our emotional sense and our rational. Under the notion that violence begets violence, this is our very noble attempt to interrupt that cycle.

My intention isn't to go off subject but instead to remind people that what's really most important is understanding that Drew is a young and talented fighter who just lost one the closest people you can ever know in your life. Anger is understood but it does little good here I'm afraid.

There's no excuse for what happened to he and his family, and it is a sad commentary on the more savage side of our behavior. Like others have expressed, I really hope this doesn't take a toll on his career.
