| Dana White: UFC coming to canada in april
The UFC will, in fact, host its first show in Canada in April.
UFC President Dana White made the announcement during Thursday’s UFC 79 press conference in Las Vegas, and the news was relayed in a Sportsnet.ca report that was posted today.
Although White gave no date for the event, he stated that he wants French-Canadian fighter Georges St. Pierre to be part of the fight card — regardless of the outcome of his fight with Matt Hughes tomorrow. The two former UFC welterweight champions meet in UFC 79’s main event for the interim UFC welterweight title. St. Pierre was a late replacement for current champ Matt Serra, who had to pull out of the bout with a herniated disc.
One possible date for the event is April 19. A source close to the Bell Centre in Montreal recently told MMAjunkie.com ( UFC News & Rumors - MMA News - UFC Fighters - UFC Event Recaps and Previews - MMAjunkie.com) that the UFC has targeted the venue for that date.
The UFC has never held an event in Canada, though not for a lack of trying. The UFC unofficially announced two previous Canadian events only to have to move the events to U.S. locations because of scheduling conflicts.
In a recent blog posting, UFC middleweight Jason MacDonald also mentioned that he expects to be part of the fight card — which will likely be UFC 83 or UFC 84.

Yeah, I would guess that win or lose against Matt Hughes, GSP would be fighting Matt Serra on the Canada card.

everyone seems to be on the same page here...if GSP wins and Serra is healthy by then, they'll be fighting on that card. Serra is gunna have a hard time with every person in that arena behind GSP...LOL

If Hughes wins tomorrow he'll have the interim belt right? Do you think Dana would have GSP fight Serra for the WW title if he looses the interim shot?
If Hughes wins tomorrow then I see
Hughes vs Serra and GSP vs Fitch/Karo

Im hoping to make it to Montreal for this card, Shogun is rumored to return around April as well, so it should be a good show better than the one in New Jersey lol

no way GSP fights Serra in April if he loses tommorow. Like others said maybe Fitch or Karo but no way he fights the champ next if he doesnt take care of business tommorow night.
