| Tito Ortiz: Past- Present-Future
As painful as it may seem to some fans, and as glorious as it may seem to others, I just sat through a lot of Tito fights
It may be a biased opinion, but when I think of Tito, I think the following: 1) Wand - "'Tag, You're It' 2.) Randy - SPANK! 3.) Chuck I- Shove... "COME ONN!!!!!!"... KO.
4.) Evan Tanner = Go to 185 BITCH! 5.) Ken Shamrock is no Randy Couture.
Honestly, If you can find any other career highlights more memorable than his low-lights, plz let me know... dude is a great grappler, but I sill can't see him being the MMa superstar he is a made out to be. He pushed the sport to what it is today, but he still lacks that spark against [Modern("TAG WAND! YOU'RE IT!" doesn't count] top competition.

The reason is pretty obvious though, he's a disrespectful dickhead.
Seriously, after he wins a fight he puts on a t-shirt which usually says something insulting to the fighter he just beat
like when he beat guy metzger, he wore a shirt that said "gay metzger is my bitch"...it's insanely clever, but nonetheless its still disrespectful and uncalled for. and after that fight he was flipping off ken just to get attention...
Also when i think of Tito i usually think of Frank Punching him in the head and tito covering up like a little bitch and quitting

Hardcore MMA fans are always down on Tito because he is to the passive fan very popular and on a human level an idiot, but if you want to talk about one single fighter who has popularized the sport of MMA more then any other fighter then you are talking about Tito Ortiz.
Sure the sport had passed him up, and sure great wrestling with GnP has been figured out by now but Tito was one of the first to win using the current MMA style of fighting.
He is clearly past his prime and a couple guys had his number, but there are two things you can never say about Tito Ortiz:
-You can never say he isn't entertaining.
-And you can never say he lossed to a lesser fighter.

Tito can an still will give any top fighter a good fight.
Over time Tito has grown to love money more then anything else.
To be honest i don't know if their is a smarter fighter then Tito when it comes to selling ppvs.

I still say Tito is a HORRIBLE matchup for Shogun. Maybe even worse than Forrest was because he won't try to exchange as long and has better top control and never gets subbed.
He's still got some things going for him. He's still marketable (because he's an asshole). He's still only 32 with 21 actual MMA bouts. That's relatively young. He's actually a decent coach.
Outside of the obvious top 8-10 fighters, he can still beat the hell out of just about anyone. He's going to sell tickets and make some younger studs famous if he's willing to sign a contract. Kind of like his nemesis, Ken Shamrock. Just an old dog who's destined to be a gatekeeper.

Those people who whine about the t-shirt thing should know the history behind it. Guy Mezger was saying Tito didn´t deserve the rematch b/c he isn´t on the same level as a fighter that he is. Of course Tito got pissed b/c he was kicking Mezgers ass before getting stood back up and getting caught in a guillotine in their first fight. When he put that shirt on after the fight he created "the Hunington beach bad boy", the best selling fighter in mma history. So should he have stopped wearing them and doing the things he did when everyone loved him or loved to hate him and bought tickets b/c of him?
Love him or hate him, Tito has the charisma and the skill to be a real superstar. Unforunately getting rich and thinking he´s a great business man took a lot out of him. I actually liked him after tuf but the whole boxing thing with Dana and whining about his lost to Chuck made him look like dump ass hole.
Hopefully he comes back healthy and focused and starts kicking ass, he can put up a fight against anyone and is very bad matchup for a lot of guys ranked above him.
