i think Machida should get a title fight, but thats about 10 or 11 months away he will fight 2 more times before a title shot. I say first give him Jardine or Rashad so he can beat the shit out of them, fuck i say give him Rashad then Jardine, then title shot.

I have been on the Machida bandwagon for quite some time now. Even before his Nakamura fight I have been saying he will be the champ one day.
I honestly believed that Machida would whoop Soko from the get-go. I even predicted a TKO stoppage. I know he won by submission but the point is that Machida is the shit and I knew he would dominate.
Machida beats whoever he fights next.... whoever!!

I think the next logical step is Machida vs. Jardine. Winner gets a title shot. Who ever posted Alexander vs. Soko, your a freaking genius. That fight would be nuts. You know they'd bang cause neither one is very good on the ground. Actually, Machida vs. Thiago Silva would be intersting as well.

I picked Machida to win in the second round via KO. I was wrong, it was a sub. I think he was in deep water when it was announced he was fighting Machida.

honestly i was glad that soko lost, i mentioned it before that i didnt jump on his bandwagon because although he knocked out two great lhw's, i didnt see much from him to consider him the biggest threat.
He has a lot of potential, great judo and ko power in both hands, but there's way more facets than just having that. Look at houston alexander (another guy i wasnt behind)... these guys have highlight reel ko's and ppl jump on their bandwagon so easily.
I think soko will keep growing to being a good fighter, he has a great camp and just has to fill in the holes he has on the ground. Houston on the other hand, i see him going nowhere.. havent seen much from him besides raw power and power gets u only so far
people have to stop jumping on and off from bandwagons. I've seen it so much, when gsp loses, people are all over him, when he wins, he's the greatest thing ever. Chuck loses, he's done and when he wins he looks like the old chuck? Great fighters can lose and shitty fighters can win... styles makes fights and fighters can have bad days too u know.

I will say I hadn't paid much attention to Machida, and that was a mistake on my part. This guy is so well rounded, Sokoudjou looked confused.
The big question; Is Machida ready and deserving of a title shot? Would he win it?
What do you guys think?
Regarding Sokoudjou; he is so very young, and has a bright future in the UFC. After seeing this fight, he wasn't ready for someone like Machida. They had him climb the ladder too quickly. | This was my fav fight of the night actually. Machida stayed with his gameplan and used his knowledge, finesse and skill to overcome pure strength and ferocity. As a karate student I really appreciated the way he took Soko to school. No disresepect to Soko, but Machida fought the better, smarter fight.

I think if he takes another fight then that will just bring it out that much more. He is going to be tough regardless. I personally think that Machida shoot fight Jardine. Both of them have won their last couple of fights. Then the winner fights the winner of Rampage/Griffin.
Yeah, Sokoudjou needs to work on his ground game it looks like. He looked about as bad as Alexander lying on the ground confused. He will definately be a threat in the future though. |
Actually, while Machida has won not just the last couple of fights, he's won all of them, Jardine only won his last fight and lost the one before that.

Im a huge fan of machida but i think his cardio for a five round fight is abit suspect. He looked real tired after the Nakamura fight...hopefully he improves his fitness and strenght even more since his skills are already top notch.
