| Sokoudjou vs. Machida ***SPOILER***
I thought Sokoudjou was going to win this fight.
I will say I hadn't paid much attention to Machida, and that was a mistake on my part. This guy is so well rounded, Sokoudjou looked confused.
The big question; Is Machida ready and deserving of a title shot? Would he win it?
What do you guys think?
Regarding Sokoudjou; he is so very young, and has a bright future in the UFC. After seeing this fight, he wasn't ready for someone like Machida. They had him climb the ladder too quickly.

I am so glad that Machida finally stopped a fight. Most people haven't been paying much attention to him because his fights have been somewhat boring with no excitement. Hopefully this showed the UFC his true potential. As for a title fight...I think he needs another fight. This fight seem to bring out a different personality. I think if he takes another fight then that will just bring it out that much more. He is going to be tough regardless. I personally think that Machida shoot fight Jardine. Both of them have won their last couple of fights. Then the winner fights the winner of Rampage/Griffin.
Yeah, Sokoudjou needs to work on his ground game it looks like. He looked about as bad as Alexander lying on the ground confused. He will definately be a threat in the future though.

is Sokoudjou a victim of his own quick success, maybe. I think he has all the tools and makeup to be great but maybe winning in the fashion he did over the high level of competition works against him for a while (getting tougher opponents) But I will admit I picked machida to win the fight, but not so convincingly. I though Sokoudjou would put up much more of a fight and let machinda eek out the decision.
As for your question, I think Machida should get 1 more top contender fight before a title shot, if he wins Hell yes he deserves it, boring fight or not

Machida proved he is top 5 material and that he is very smart in that fight. Avoided the bombs from soko and put him in a place he could dominate him.

Ive never really been much of a Machida fan although I was glad that he finished the fight convinsingly. I think I was more disappointed in Soko than I was impressed with Machida to be honest. I think with one more good win under his belt Machida will be next in line for a title shot. I think pairing him up with Jardine would be a good fight with the winner facing Rampage/Forrest for the title.

I had Machida winning, although via decision. I felt Soko would come out guns blazing, and then gas, and Machida would pick him apart, on his way to decision. I think that win will definately gain Machida some fans, and he is probably one big win away from a title shot.

three words for Soko... PLEASE TRAIN BJJ!!!
as for Machida, im glad he finished the fight too. but i have a feeling he could be itching closer to his first loss. it comes more and more a reality when you climb the ladder in competition.
im guessing they give him one of three guys next...Chuck, Shogun, or Wandy. and im not gunna count him out on any of those fights, anything could happen.

I think a Machida/Jardine pairing is perfect for everyone who doesn't understand why Forrest is getting the title shot over Keith. I think don't think Jardine can bring the fight anywhere that Machida isn't much better than he is, and would set Machida up for the winner of Griffin/Jackson.
Great fight last night.

I'm a Machida fan now, I just wish he'd do what he did last night more often!
In all this LHW talk, I don't think anyone's made mention of Thiago Silva. He certainly belongs in this mix somewhere.
