I watched the event last night at a sports bar and was not satisfied with the little comentating I could hear. Based on the Wanderlei vs Chuck fight, I had it much closer than the Commentators and 2 of the judges apparently did. Round 1 was close and round 2 was clearly Wanderlei's, ROund 3 was clearly Chuck's.
In round 2, Wanderlei comes out agressive and controls the pace of the fight, landing left and right hooks at will while slipping nearly everything Chuck is throwing. Chuck is really getting picked apart this round and is unable to get his punches off before eating hooks to the face.
Wanderlei is landing combo after combo and Rogan says "I don't know why he's not throwing more kicks". I dunno d-bag, maybe becasue he just landed a combo to your boys face?
Then Wanderlei lands a knockdown punch, Rogan immediately chimes in with a "he slipped" then Goldberg follows up with an emphatic "it's a slip".
About 10-15 seconds later (after Wandelrei lands another combo) Wanderlei crushes Chuck with a huge punch that drops Chuck. Goldberg yells somethin to the extent of "and Wanderlei drops Chuck", then Rogan says "yeah, but Chuck landed a right before he got dropped".
Uh, what?
The comentating for this fight was as biased as I've ever seen and the judging was as well.
2 out of the 3 judges had Chuck winning all 3 rounds.
I had round 1 close, Wanderlei was scoring with leg kicks, they both landed punches, Chuck landed a solid right hand and Wanderlei baited him into the cage and landed a left hook. It was a close round to call, they both controlled the pace at different points in this round.
The fight was still amazing, it should've been deemed a "super fight" so it could've been a 5 round fight (like vintage UFC days) but I thought both the comentating and judging was of the worst I've ever seen and definitely lost respect for Rogan.
At one point in round 2 Rogan even calls the fight "A sloppy boxing match".
I think the UFC should setup a Bas Rutten vs Joa Rogan fight, winner takes over comentary.

While I see how this fight could have gone either way...
I thought it was crazy that the judges had it as 30-27.. I was like, WHAAAT?
Round 2 was Wandy no doubt... For almost everything Chuck threw, Wandy countered.. and Wandy was hitting Chuck beyond that..
Chuck's takedowns were pretty BS.. he got Wandy down and never did anything (unfortunately, the scoring system doesn't work that way)
And the first round was really close. I thought they would give Chuck the win.. especially since round 3 was pretty much all Chuck...
But I was expecting a split decision victory with Chuck as the winner. Not a un. dec. of 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28
Rogan saying Chuck slipped was a bunch of crap too.. Wandy put Chuck on his ass.
I saw the fight much closer as well, but Chuck probably still won and I can't wait for the rematch.

i think wanderlei lost, but i noticed something strange on the commentating as well....seemed like goldberg was almost getting pissed at one point when rogan said 'chuck with a good right' (which was a miss) goldberg replied '...AND silva with a good left!' with an interesting tone of voice
rogan also said after the fight moving on to the next fight that GSP trained for the possibility that SERRA would pull out...WTF

Yea, wouldn't be the first time Rogan plugs some bullshit. Still can't get over how berzerk he went over Kongo's much improved ground game. What a crock.
Great fight, though. Could've gone either way, respect both Chuck and Wanderlai more for it. Hope this turns into a trilogy. Doubt the future of their careers will dictate it, but I sure as hell would pay to see it again.

While I agree that it's a bit unprofessional, it's just a fact that Rogan is a fan more than a commentator. To start off I had picked Wandy from the beginning and had money on him, but I saw the 1st round for Chuck although it was a feel out round for the most part, second round almost even but with the knockdown of Chuck the round went to Wandy, and the 3rd round was all Chuck. So 29-28 seems right but 30-27 isn't too far off as the 2nd round was so close and also the only one that could have went to Wandy.
I don't know if it's just me, but when I came on today and saw people saying this fight was a draw and shit, it really made me wonder if people really watched the fight from an unbiased view. There is no fluke win, no lucky punch or submission. If you throw something with the intentive being damage, and it damages the opponent, then it's not a fluke, it's skill.

Rounds 1 and 3 were clearly chucks and 2 was very close...Liddell was lighting wandy up at the end of round 2.
Chuck beat Wandy's ass and anyone who thinks Wandy won is bias.
This fight was nowhere near a draw. Chuck beat the living fuck out of Wandy...I was amazed that wandy was able to stay standing though, that dude has an iron fucking chin.

i agree, i was about to make this thread but i thought i was being dumb cuz im sucha huge wand fan. I agree, even in the post fight it seemed as though rogan was talking down to wand and was getting ready to get some chuck nut sauce in his eye. I didnt like that and was really pissed, i wanted to mute the tv at some points, id rather listen to goldies michael jordan of bjj comments than that biased dribble

I always find it amazing how different people judge & analyze different fights. The first round was decently close, but Chuck landed much more & more damage. The 2nd Round was obviously Wanderlei imo.. he dominate for 4 minutes & then Chuck lands an elbow & a takedown. But the 3rd Round was all Chuck... I had it a pretty clear cut 29-28.
The commentating was a little biased last night, and I think Rogan let the UFC v Pride thing get into him... he became more fan than commentator. I usually like Rogan though, and i'm still a fan.

Also, on the above quote, I had read that on this site before. I have no idea WHY GSP might have thought that but I did read it. I can't find it though so if anyone can hook it up it'd be appreciated.
