| Fedor Emelianenko On Fighting Randy Couture: "The fight will take place" Quote:
Fedor Emelianenko briefly touched upon the the possibility of fighting Randy Couture at the press conference for the Yarrenoka NYE event and had this to say:
“I respect [Couture] very much, and it’s going to be a great honor to fight with him. I would also like to wait for that opportunity.“
When asked if he thought the fight would take place Fedor responded, “Yes, I think so. The fight will take place."
While it remains to be seen whether the fight will indeed take place, it certainly won't be before October of 2008, as Couture is under contract with the UFC until that point.

Is it even possible for Randy to wait out the contract without fighting in the UFC?

So depending on how the lawyers interpret it, yes, he could be locked in indefinitely.

Damn. It sounds like Randy really screwed himself. Even if he does go back into fighting for the UFC for the time being, just look at what has become of his fanbase due to this fiasco. And he's not getting any younger either. Really sucks. But either way, I want to see this Fedor vs Couture fight happen.

I think Fedor will take this fight by decision but that it will be an exicting fight through and through.
