If this fight happens in April like its supposed too there are 2 big question marks that will have a big impact on this fight. 1. With Serra's back problem will he be to train properly. 2. With the crowd obviously 99.9% behind GSP how will it affect the fighters. I think Serra will be able to thrive on the crowd booing him. I don't know how GSP will handle it though. He could be pumped as hell giving him an advantage or he could get nervous as hell. Either way I see GSP being the best shape and having the best skill set of his life going into the fight and, even though Serra has proven he can be dangerous standing and on the ground. I see GSP stopping Serra.
War Frenchy!

the only guarantee about this fight is that both fighters will probably prepare the hardest that they've ever prepared for. They both know what each other is capable of....
with that being said... i hope gsp smashes serra but serra is a gamer, he has a lot of tools especially on the ground and it never hurts to have heavy hands |

Serra is considerably smarter than Hughes and knows that GSP outclasses him in 85% of MMA skills so he has to play to his strengths. Hughes never seems to come in with a gameplan and somehow gets a victory ( many that I consider to be very lucky victories but thats besides the point). WAR GSP, he'll win this time for sure.
As far as the UFC going to Montreal, this is what the 4th time dana has announced this? I won't believe it until I can buy tickets.

WAR GSP, he'll win this time for sure. | the thing with both Hughes and Serra is that they want the fight to go to the ground. Except with hughes, he's more comfortable on the top. Serra is comfortable both on top and on the bottom (although much more from the top as he uses his bjj to sweep when he's on his back). However, serra is going to have even a harder time getting the fight to the ground as he does not even have the wrestling skills that hughes had (and hughes had a damn tough time). Serra has to be able to hold his own in striking, which he has in the last fight. This will be a striking battle in my eyes. Quote:

anyways thats a subject for another thread...as far as this one goes, GSP is going to have the night of his life in Montreal. Serra may end up getting KOd solely by the sound of Boooos LOL if not, the crowd will light GSP on fire, and he'll look better then ever. Serra is a very smart fighter with a lot of skill, but he wont beat GSP this time around.

The thing about Hughes that always bugged me is he has this crazy legacy and a lot of big wins that just seemed to come his way. I think this mentality trickled into his psyche and he always just thought he was going to win somehow, no real gameplan or logical weakness that he could exploit. Serra on the other hand seems really sneaky. Plus a hernia will give you plenty of time to think about things, Hughes probably had to cut training short to plow the fields or something.

Why people are saying that Serra will have hard time taking GSP down? Itīs GSP whoīs going to be shooting, in the first 2 minutes of the fight. Outstrucking Matt Hughes is as impressive as subbing Yosuke Nishijima. GSP is fast and athletic but thatīs it. His stand up hasnīt impress me one bit.
And subbing Hughes was more Hughes being horrible from his back than GSP being great on top. I do think he has very good grappling but Matt Hughes looked like a bluebelt, itīs going to be completely different with Serra.
GSP has huge wrestling advantage and can decide if they fight on their feet or on the ground. Heīs also much bigger, stronger, faster and prob has better cardio too.
Itīs going to be close fight and i will not be surprised no matter who wins, but iīll be rooting for Serra.

WAR GSP!!! | Posts like this sometimes make me consider just quitting coming to the forum. Luckily there are a lot of long time posters who actually make sense and can make reasonable arguments too.
