| Matt Serra takes on GSP in Montreal [Confirmed] Quote:
Matt Serra on Friday confirmed to NBCSports.com that he will meet Georges St-Pierre for the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title when the UFC makes its Canadian debut in April in Montreal.
Serra defeated St-Pierre for the title in Houston in April of 2007. He had been scheduled to make his first defense of the belt against Matt Hughes at UFC 79 on Dec. 29, but a herniated disc forced him to withdraw from the bout.
Instead, St-Pierre stepped in on short notice and defeated Hughes for the interim title. Following the bout, St-Pierre refused to wear the belt, saying, “Matt Serra is the real champion,” and would not wear the belt until he defeated the Long Island, N.Y. native.
Serra said that his back has been rapidly improving and he is excited about defending the championship.
The event is tentatively scheduled for April 19 at the Bell Centre.

Agreed, WAR GSP.
I think Serra is going to receive an old-fashioned beatdown. I don't see GSP losing to any welterweight - including Fitch - for a long time now. Only if BJ moves back up to 170 would I consider GSP to be in danger of losing; that would be an all-out war.
But as long as that great white shark swims in the waters of 155, I see GSP ruling the roost and beating all comers for quite a while.

same shit everyone said last time.
i see a much more competitive fight then people are expecting, but GSP should pull it out unless Serra has enough grit in him to do it again.

I grew to like Serra over the last couple of months. Sarah, hahah. Hope he pops George St. Pierre square in the mouth. Either way, I figure Serra will eventually get his hands on Hughes after this - Win or lose.

WAR GSP. This fight isn't going to be a cakewalk...Serra presents a much more complicated matchup for GSP than Hughes did. Good standup, KO power, good base, and almost second to none on the ground. But GSP looks like a complete animal now, and I don't see Serra making it past the third round.
