The bigger question here is, if Dana was advised to do this by his legal team...how long does he keep Randy twisting in the wind like this?
Say Nog defeats Sylvia...he is now the "interim" HW champion. Randy is offered a fight with him. He declines. They cannot leave the HW title on hold forever, so at some point probably in the autumn (maybe late autumn) they would have to give Big Nog another fight. So is that fight then for THE title, or still for the interim title?
Such depressing drama....

One word DANA!! | Yeah because Dana is a businessman. You don't help out a potential rival by lending your fighters and giving them exposure. While as a fan I would love it, you can't fault Dana for being a shrewd businessman.

This may be a bad analogy but if I started a pizza restaurant and everyone said that my pizza was the best, do you think that Pizza Hut would serve my pie to their customers with my company name all over it? No they wouldn't because that send people over to me. Make sense?

The ONLY reason M1 lets its fighters go to other organizations is to get more exposure for M1. Randy is under contract and unless the UFC agrees to let him go - he can't. I think Randy is a fantastic fighter and I respect what he has done for this sport. But if he doesn't honor his contract he will be known for this rather than what the rest of his legacy is.

I'm tired of everyone saying "Well, M-1 is willing to loan out its fighters, why can't the UFC do the same?" Because...M-1 is an upstart company with its entire wellbeing resting on the shoulders of a single fighter. They have everything to gain by loaning Fedor out, as he could beat the top fighters of almost any org, and they know it.
Its not a given, but I think Dana knows Couture has a VERY good chance of losing to Fedor, so co-promoting that fight would be a horrible business move. I'm on the UFC's side here.

One word DANA!! | Really? Here's another word for you. RANDY
If Randy would have honored his contract and finished his last 2 fights, he very well could be fighting Fedor in the first half of this year anyways.
Sad to say, but this is like little kids. It is like a little kid that wants to whine and argue that instead of doing his chores, he wants to go out and play before the sun goes down. The child ends up spending more time arguing than it would have taken him to man up and do his work and go play before it is dark.
The sun is going down very fast on Randy and his career, and he is wasting his precious little time arguing with his parents.

Such depressing drama.... | If Randy declines they will claim that Randy is retired since he refuses to fight.

He's ready to retire but wants one final fight worthy of retiring after.
Say he does lose to Big Nog or Sylvia, then a fight with Fedor wouldn't matter so much because it wouldn't be the definitive #1 HW fight that it is right now.
In any other case, a fighter shouldn't hold out for a specific fight. But a guy like Randy who's given so much to the sport deserves to go out under his own conditions. And doesn't deserve to be compared to a whiny child who isn't given his what he wants.
you're sig's awesome though, Chuck pissed me off too the way he stalled at the end of the fight.
