It's sort of like when george st. pierre fights. BJ can beat anyone, depending on which BJ shows up. If it's the BJ who trounced uno, and thomas, and pretty much everyone who ends up in front of him, or the bj who gasses, or who just doesn't seem to care.
BJ is my favorite fighter, and I hope to see the Prodigy show up against stevenson, because if so he'll finally be the lightweight champion.

if penn loses to joe? then what happens? does he move back up to ww?
however, there really should be no reason why bj should lose... although upsets have happened...

BJ is very dangerous right now,he's out 2 prove he's the best p4p Fighter in the Wolrd. Joe is really Strong but like " jlruthven84 " Randy had a Hard time takin BJ Down so it's gonna be hard for Joe 2 take him Down, IMO. Joe ain't no Push Over,he's strong, his BJJ is Decent, His Wrestling Good & He can win this Fight but i think dat BJ Penn is just 2 much for Him.
BJ Penns Flexability is just Crazy dat he can Sub u from any Angle & I think he's gonna catch Joe w/a Sub.
WAR BJ Penn !!

BJ's gonna put a clinic on Joe. Honestly, though, I think Joe could eventually be up there with him, its just not his time yet.

BJ trying to prove people like the people here are right about him. He wants to prove not just that he's great, but the best. Penn's in shape, and hungry, in an interview not that long ago he said one of his goals was to hold both titles. If he was to succeed, I would then declare him best p4p...maybe ever (especially if he goes through Sherk and St. Pierre to do it). My point is, this is just his first step, I can't imagine him losing, he's coming out like a steam roller.

I say joe wins. He's never shown up half-assing a fight the way bj has. even though his bjj is better he's gonna have to outwork joe in order to get the sub and i dont see him doing that.
As far as people saying that couture had a hard time keeping bj down.... are you serious? you've never heard of hyping the fight? randy was world class at heavy weight. i can see through him building up a fight.
