This makes me kind of embarrassed to be such a veteran poster here.

So, GSP is the best P4P, yet is not the best in his own weight class.
Great job.
Who can explain that shit?

I just have a problem with someone who's not even ranked 1st at their weight being ranked 1st p4p. It's too contradictory. I understand why people wouldn't rank him number one at his weight since he's not the champ, but therefore you absolutely cannot rank him p4p. There has to be some consistency here.

Who can explain that shit? | not only is he not #1 in his weight class, but the person who is ahead of him is a lightweight and therefore should be higher p4p as well.

And what I thought would be even more obvious...GSP was beaten by an unranked Lightweight. He's not even the best in his weight class, he should be on the bottom half of the list at best.

i dont understand y so many people have to hate on gsp...everyone knows gsp is deserving of all the credit he gets and lossing to matt serra(which was a fluke) does not make im shitty...he's beat the shit out of the best fighters and people just hate...lets see...hughes twice, trigg, penn, sherk, karo, koshcheck, mayhem he's beat them all...and he will beat serra too...
i for one still think fedor is number 1 p4p...but for you guys to say gsp cant be ranked or bullshit like that because of a loss to serra then thats bullshit...anderson silva has lost 4 times..all of which to b rate fighters...so does that take him off your guys p4p list??? nah i didnt think soo..
stop fuckin hating!!!

rh | Agreed! Fedor needs to be #1 until someone beats him. BJ, A. Silva, and Shogun all need to be ahead of GSP IMO. GSP is good but his striking is suspect and his JJ is just starting to get to average.

What has GSP done to deserve the number 1 p4p spot? He is not even a Champion.

Sure Penn has unlimited potential. But please, stop ranking him on that alone.
The guy is 2-3 since 2005. If you penalize GSP for losing to Serra, you have to penalize Penn for losing to Hughes and GSP.
I know you guys will counter with Penn fighting up weight classes, but so what? If he would have cut the weight like everyone else does, he could have competed at whatever his natural weight is. I get that he is moving up weight classes, but still, if he is so dominant, let's see it.
I'm sure you will also tell me that he was champion at 170. He was given a title shot at 170 without proving himself at the weight first ala
Henderson
Randy
Serra
He was a bad matchup for Hughes stylewise and took the belt. much respect to BJ for him doing that, but that still doesnt change that he was given a title shot at his first crack at the weight class.
So if Gabe loses at 170, he deserves respect because he fought up a weight class? Ok, that is going too far, but hopefully you get my point.

in 1-2 years they should have a Superfight between Anderson SIlva and GSP to settle this (after they dominate their respective divisions for a while).
