| Kevin Randleman: "Stevenson has a great opportunity against BJ Penn" and more. Welcome To Punch Drunk Gamer
This interview was done before Christmas but i couldnt find it in the search section so here it is. Quote:
PDG: How are things going?
Kevin: Good, real good. I am back to training and I feel great. I have been lifting hard and running four to five miles everyday. A lot of plyometrics and pool exercises. I am just trying to get back so that I am ready for when I am cleared to get back on the mat again.
PDG: When are you going to apply for reinstatement?
Kevin: Right now I don’t have fights or fighters I am cornering coming up soon but when I do I will appear in front of the commission. I got one more week until the wound is completely healed and then I want to start training with the fighters including Joe Stevenson. I think Joe has a great opportunity coming up against BJ Penn.
PDG: How big is the wound now?
Kevin: It is about pinky-sized which is a hell of a lot better than 2 months ago.
PDG: Is the gym project in Columbus, Ohio still going?
Kevin: Yes the gym is going great and the plan is still to be open by March 2008. The plan is to keep the house in Vegas because if and when I get a fight. I want to train with the guys at Xtreme Couture. So we’ll get a house in Columbus and just split time between the two. I am hoping to import some fighters to the new gym and we will also be training boxers there. We are going to have a lot of mat space, a cage and a full set of boxing training equipment. There will be training available for all disciplines including women’s MMA.
Also to show my appreciation of all law enforcement, government agencies and the men and women in the military who protect us. Those individuals will receive a 20% discount at the new gym when it opens.
PDG: Do have a date when the next training seminar you are doing will be held?
Kevin: The next one will be in March and I should have all of the details soon.
PDG: How has the long layoff affected you?
Kevin: I’ll tell you what; I have more respect now for all of the fighters out there. Watching everyone fight over the last year made me feel like I was in jail this whole time. I have just been waiting impatiently to get back to being the Monster that fans remember. After having the opportunity to fight taken away I realized how much I loved the sport.
I no longer have crazy friends and I’m not out running the streets. I want to get back in the cage and give the fans everything I’ve got win, lose or draw every time. I have been technique and jiu-jitsu training for over a year now, so I want the fans to be able to see the improvements I have made to my arsenal. I am just happy as a person to have learned from my past and be able to utilize that going forward.
PDG: Anything else this time?
Kevin: Just to let the fans know that my website Official Website for Kevin Randleman - MMA Fighter will be updated soon and they will be able to get updates on my career and training there. Thanks again to everyone who has stuck with me and Merry Christmas!!!

Good to hear him coming back. There should be some interesting matchups for him in the UFC.
If anyone didn't see his staph wound before it healed up... get prepared to gag...(the two holes were connected inside!!)
