No one wants to fight Machida. Tito wont take the fight and Chuck wont take it either.
I dont think Rampage would destroy Machida at all. I think that fight would be very close. I know rampage has good wrestling but Machida is just so agile and evasive I dont think he could take him down. If Rampage does get a takedown it would have to be from a clinch situation...
And do you want to be in a clinch situation with Anderson Silva's close friend and training partner. We havent got to see much of Machidas Muy Thai but from what Ive seen I believe he is very good and very confident with it.
I think a fight with Rampage would be decided on the feet and I give Machida a slight edge because no one can touch him and he is extremely effective counter puncher and a karate black belt. He has great kicks and great hands.
I think Machida beats anyone
edit: Then again Rampage spent a lot of his fight with Hendo in the clinch and still came out on top. Rampage has one of the best chins in MMA so this fight would be extremely interesting. It is very hard for me to predict a winner but to say Machida would be destroyed is wrong imo

Im glad to see a MMA fighter use his brain more than his brawn and stick and move, reminds me of elusive boxers. The fact that people complain he is boring probably tells more about the fan than the fighter. They are not ready to accept MMA for a sport where great strategy is employed but want to see two people just stand in front of each other and beat themselves silly. The beauty is not always in KO's sometimes its in perfectly executed plans.

But Machida is so smart in the cage, I bet he would strike from the outside in the "boring" fashion some people seem to hate. Only problem is, he could get caught with a right hook. I'd have liked to have seen Machida fight Hendo too. These are the tests Machida needs to really show how elite he is.[/U] | Please see the highlighted portions. I don't think it's a forgone conclusion QJ would destroy Machida. I just think he is one who could. I think Machida could devise a gameplan to neutralize Jackson's strength and he does seem to have a longer strike than QJ. But Rampage isn't bad against counter punchers- in fact he's quite good. I don't think Machida's muy thai is near comparable to A. Silva's, but then again, I haven't seen much of it. If Silva is training him though, I'm sure it's decent. Quote: |

Straight-Up, the key to beating Machida is Greco-Roman. I can damn near bet that if Hendo were to fight him at 205 he would rape his soul.

Personally, I do not find Machida boring at all. He applies almost a 'stick-and-jab' style attack that is amaziingly effective. When he goes to the ground he is constantly trying to improve his position or apply a submission. If all someone cares about are wild punches and big KOs, then Machida is not your guy. On the other hand, if you can appreciate an intelligent, talented and elusive fighter, I assure you that he won't disapoint.

I used to hate Machida, but his late two fights actually were very entertaining. He's slowly making a fan out of me

I'm still not a fan of Machida, I respect his wins, they're valid, he does have his game plan but it still measures up as a Koschek vs. Diego style but waaay fucking worse. I do want to see how he'd do against a top contender or a top apprentice, ala Tito Ortiz.
I want to see what he'd do against an agressive fighter that wasn't making his UFC debut.

I think Shogun would beat Machida pretty bad
he's agressive, has excellent striking, and would own machida in the clinch imo.
In Machida's fight against penn he mostly enjoyed his huge size advantage and hugged bj and picked his shots, he wont at all be able to do that with shogun. Shogun would bully him and beat him one way or another imo.

Fighters aren't going to want to take a fight with him because his style is boring not because they don't want any piece of him. He's just like every other fighter on a streak. One thing I will say though is Machida has been very impressive. If I was the UFC i'd throw him in with the best right now because this undefeated streak could catch a lot of attention and earn Machida a little recognition and set up another good main event fight for the UFC in the near future. I can see it now Forrest Griffin or Rampage Jackson against undefeated Lyoto Machida

But I have to disagree with the outcome. I know Shogun is capable of beating Machida but i also know Machida is capable of beating Shogun
You are talking about two very well rounded fighters here. Machida has a size and reach advantage over Shogun so I dont think Shogun could effectively "bully" him. And I know Shogun would be the favorite but I personally would pick Machida
