Andrei Arlovski is one of the best most exciting heavyweight fighters in the world. At twenty-eight years old he is healthy and in his prime; so why haven't we seen Arlovski grace the cage in almost nine months?

Arlovski is on the final fight of his contract and the UFC is notoriously adamant about extending contracts before valued fighters fight the last fight on their current contract. When Arlovski declined to extend rumors naturally began to circulate that the UFC was freezing Arlovski out. Arlovski was also less than impressive in his last outing; a decision win over Fabricio Werdum. This led to speculation that the UFC was unhappy with Arlovski's performance and that he was in Zuffa's doghouse for poor performance.

Lorretta Hunt of TheFightNetwork.com claims that neither is true and that the popular Belarusian fighter has just been the victim of bad luck. Hunt claims that the UFC has offered Arlovski at least two fights over the span of the last nine months and that both fighters had to drop out of those fights due to injury. Hunt did not mention names but there are a number of UFC heavyweights that meet that criteria.

I really don't know who else it could be, but I'm sure I'm missing a lot of obvious fighters.

One of them is Brandon Vera, he is likely out until May or probably June.

Brandon Vera is the only HW I can think of that is injuried right now.

Hopefully his next fight will be CroCop. I'll be very dissapointed if it's anyone but Mirko.

Crocop is one of Vera's potential future opponent, they are both lose so it's possible.

I heard tha similar rumor not too long ago ... can't remember where, that 2 different opponents had turned down fights with AA during the last 9 months.

I just want to see him fight again!

Vera vs. Cro Cop or Arlovski vs. Cro Cop. Yea, Vera can take a hike, . Seriously though, if Mirko vs. Andrei doesn't come through, it'll be a huge dissapointment. I don't understand why it wouldn't happen. If you think about it, it could work out well for the UFC. They can have big leverage on the losers salary. Andrei loses - He get derailed and the UFC can negotiate with Mirko. Mirko loses - Well, hah. The UFC can say they've got three fighters who emberassed the croatian.

Problem is that they might not want Andrei going into the fight without a new contract. And if he wins, well - They'll have to pay the man. Of course, they could always say Tim Sylvia's got Arlovski's number, so.

I just haven't heard why this dream fight couldn't happen. Short of one of them getting injured or somethin'.

Cro cop would be a great match up but if cro cop lost than he's finished. Or a match up between arlovski and the winner of lesner and mir would be very good.
