I don't think there's anything funnier than something being clearly upset or angered by something but not being able to express themselves due to language barriers...
I think some of the people posting on these forums are trying to get me in trouble at work...
[edit]
I think talking smack is part of Serra's game, in this case I don't think it's that much of an issue... when GSP is focused and determined he is very scary... I'm no fan of Hughes but I think in a match vs Serra, Serra's talking would have worked against him...
Then again that's just my opinion, he could very well go on to beat GSP and prove me wrong again...
At which point I'd have to head back to Long Island, visit my family and friends... and poison his next bowl of pasta...

It's not part of Serra's game...it's part of his personality. All he has talked about is how much of a d*** Hughes is...I hate to break it to Serra but he is just as much of a d*** as Hughes. He was a good coach on TUF but I think that just sealed the deal that he is a prick. I have never seen anyone's head blow up so fast after winning a belt. GSP should be angry and an angry GSP is trouble for Serra. I think he has stuck his foot in his mouth and now he is going to pay.

I don't know....Last time these guy fought Serra not only won the fight and knocked him out...but he dominated the fight.
Granted, I like both guys and I'm glad to see them fighting for the title, but I think a lot of people really aren't giving Serra the credit he deserves. If you're gonna say knocking a guy out is lucky, then there's a shitload of "lucky" fighters out there, because it happens all the time. And the only reason Serra even said anything about GSP in the first place is because GSP was making up excuses after the fight. He should've just stuck with his original statement when he said Serra was the better man that night....
That being said, I don't mind a little trash talk before a fight. I'm sure GSP is mad about being called Frenchy, and he should be. Maybe that'll fuel GSP to put on a better performance this time around and make it a much more competitive fight. But at the same time, being angry doesn't always mean you're gonna be a better fighter.

Didn't Serra start it out with some remarks while talking with Joe Rogan immediately after the fight was over? And I don't mind the trash talking before a fight either. It gets the fight a little more hyped up. You just have to be sure and back it up....Guillard. Sorry I had to throw that in there. That was great.

I really hope GSP tears through Serra. Serra is above Tim Sylvia on my dislike list. I mean, I hope GSP plows through him like Vitor Belfort did with his opponents in his old days. |
My thoughts exactly!!!

I see a really focused and intense GSP in this next fight. Once GSP is done with Serra I hope we get to see a Hughes vs Serra. If he has one more fight in the UFC before he wants to retire I do hope it is that one and he wins going out with a bang.

GSP better not literally back up these words, because if he tries, he is going to get fucked up again.
GSP better leave his "fists" at home and go for takedowns.
If GSP stands with Serra, and doesn't keep his distance, he is going down again.
This is playing right into Serra's hands (literally).
Serra by T/KO round 1.
And...GSP is already underestimating Serra again, by talking that he is moving up to MW after clearing out WW. He better focus on Serra.

It's just a career goal. It seems like saying that would be the same sort of arguement for Matt Hughes retiring. "Oh man he shouldn't be thinking about retiring, he should be focused on his next few fights"
The BJ Penn/Joe Daddy/Sherk thing is where that arguement would apply because is BJ talking about the Sherk fight like it's a done deal.
Anyways, regardless, GSP will know what to do this time around. He's like some sort of super virus that when he gets beat at one thing, he gets this new "Immunity" towards it (and no I'm not saying GSP is invincible). He learns and adapts. He'll know when to keep it standing and when to punish him on the ground.

I'm not really sure how Serra can win this fight. The first one was a miracle, so I guess he could hope to bang inside again as he does have powerful hands. The other option could be to try to sub GSP from his back, which is possible with Serra's great BJJ but unlikely because GSP is no slouch himself.
GSP will probably keep this on the feet and keep his distance. His takedowns were amazing against Kos & Hughes, but Serra is comfortable on his back so why go there?
