whats the difference in money the fighters get paid from the ufc to elite? i cant believe its a huge difference since the ufc fighters have their fight contracts plus ppv cuts and fight, sub, and (t)ko of the night. no big names leave the ufc for elite. because they make good money there and the ufc promotes the fighters more than any other org can.

It would be awesome to see cross promotion fights but as a business standpoint the UFC does not need to do it. They already own the market in MMA and they have the majority of the top fighters currently. I'm not sure what would move the UFC to agree to do this. The last time they did something like that is when they sent Chuck Liddell over to PRIDE back in 2003. Shaw is just stirring up as much as he can to entice Dana to address him and hopefully set something up. Dont hold your breath though lol.

Cross promote who with ELitexc?
Shields? Ok, he'd do nicely against the number 3, and 4 guys at WW. But thats all they have.
UFC doesn't need to cross promote with shaw or anyone at this point. This is more of shaw spouting nonsense to try to get publicity. Its the same song you hear Ron Kruck say every 45 seconds whenever he gets camera time .... "we, unlike other orgs, cross-promote to bring you, the fans, the best fights and to truly see who the number 1 is in each weight class".
Funny .... as I was watching Liddell v Silva and Machida v. Soku last month, not once did I wonder .... "hey these guys seem like the best, but I guess I'll never know till they take on Shaw's awesome stable!"
Of course they're all going to say this and try to bait zuffa -- they have no choice.
Bottom line -- MMA is a business, and I have ordered every UFC PPV for the past 3 years at least, and will continue to order them until I drop dead. And nowhere in the forseeable future will I be ordering Showtime or buying a Robbie Lawler t-shirt.

People need to remember that the other orgs don't cross promote out of their goodwill and love, they do it out of necessity. They have to cross promote in order to put together fights between top opponents because they each on have a few.
Using Sherdog's top 10 Rankings here is what I have: UFC - 32 Fighters
Big Nog
Tim
Gonzaga
Arlovski
Werdum
Kongo
Crocop
Rampage
Henderson
Jardine
Griffin
Liddell
Rua
Machida
Silva
Evans

Franklin
Marquardt
Okami
St Pierre
Serra
Hughes
Fitch
Koscheck

And then you said ex UFC fighters are only in Elite because they couldn't hang in the UFC. I pointed out that is not the case with Elites number 3 ranked MW.
And now you are questioning when Shamrock fought?
I discounted both of your points with facts and you still are creating more criteria to back up your original point, which seems lost by now.
It's a good thing you aren't trying to argue or you might have to actually realize that you don't know what you are talking about. Quote:

Because it isn't called "the UFC"?
They are a new org and they already have a MW division that is comporable to the UFC's. Imagine where they will be at this pace in 10 years from now. Quote:

That's a fourth of what Elite was offering him.

WOW....
Shaw could not be more wrong, why would the UFC EVER co-promote? they have nothing to gain and everything to lose.
Gary is an idiot plain and simple, and I'd go into further detail but everyone who posted before said everything I could say. Smart bunch of guys :P

eliteXC is no way near the same level the ufc is right now. they are an up and coming org with a ok stable has a whole but broken down into weight classes its not that great. i dont know what they pay but i do know that they cant promote fights/fighters like the ufc. i mean elite is promoting a famous street fighter who got fame from the internet vs a washed up tank abbott who hasnt won a fight in 2 and a half years.

... | Thats it. UFC has nothing to gain from being associated with EXC, but EXC has everything to gain from being associated with UFC.
And for all shaws talk he has only cross promoted his marquee fighters against other orgs that he owns a piece of. When the Icon champ beat the EXC champ, the Icon champ became the EXC champ. If Shaw is so fearless about cross promotion will he match Gina against the bodog girls? I dont think so.
How about noons in K1 against yamamato? I doubt it.
Those wouldn't offer the exposure and boost of legitimacy that he would get even in losing against UFC. For UFC to even consider attaching its name to EXC right now is win/win for shaw and lose/lose for Zuffa.
Shaws taunts make me think of some skeevy girl at a party daring you to fuck her.

He seems to just be trying to get more people to notice his product...But I dont think thats exactly the right approach to do it.

Quote from Gary Shaw, "I believe that Antonio “Big Foot” Silva could knock out any heavyweight in the UFC"
That made me laugh...
