If you really think that you are an idiot. The UFC was going bankrupt and was breathing it's final breathes before the management turned it around. The UFC is what it is because of smart business moves.

Seems to me Randy knows that cross-promotions would be very good for MMA,and is smart enough to try and make it happen. To go so far as to give up your purse shows how passionate he is about it.It's too bad that Dana isn't as passionate about MMA,and less concerned about money.

M1 offered to pay the purses in cross promotion between Randy and Fedor, so it's not like Randy was actually giving up his purse.

Either way it isn't Dana's job to be passionate about MMA. It's Dana's job to run the UFC the best way he can. If Steve Jobs was passionate about improving the quality of everyone's cell phones he would sell the iPhone for $1, but he would get fired real fast. Businesses are created for the purpose of making money and staying/getting on top.

I can bet you that if EXC was in the UFC's position, Gary Shaw wouldn't be talking so much about cross promotions with orgs he doesn't own.

Don't be an asshole. All orgs (and companies for that matter) exisit because of smart business moves. Thanks for pointing out the obvious in such a constuctive manner. Those business moves would have never had any meaning behind them if it wasn't "the UFC". If Stikeforce had made a reality TV show, free fights on Spike, and created hype by constantly putting down pro-football and pro-boxing it still wouldn't be nearly as popular as the UFC is. As far as cleaning up the sport with legitimate rules to make the sport more pallatable to the masses, it wasn't Dana or the Fertitta's that were responsible eventhough they claim they were.

The UFC was going bankrupt because Renzo and Meyrowitz don't know how to manage a business of that size, but they also had the only marketable name for an MMA org in North America at the time because they were the first org.

Anybody with a brain knows there was more to it than that. Your statement says flat out that the only reason the UFC is as successful as it is is because it is first, and that is poppycock. Yes, poppycock.

Yes they would, b/c for that scenario to have unfolded would have meant the UFC wouldn't have done those things, meaning they would be bankrupt by now. Strikeforce would be the big org right now if they had done that, and the UFC would have died.

I don't even know why you brought this up. Doesn't really have anything to do with what we are talking about.
