IMO the rankings i have seen with Davis in the top 10 are a joke and imo he will never beat any top 10 and only way he makes it into the top 10 is by beating lower fights and racking up wins like he is doing.

I'd say cases could be made for Yoshida, Alves, or Condit to be #10.
and I didn't know that his fight with Hironaka was actually aired, but now that I check it looks like it was. But he still had to fight 5 top 20 welterweights to get the recognition that Marcus has seemed to have gotten by beating 4 or 5 okay fighters. Maybe its becuase he is more exciting, but I think it is becuase the UFC wants to make Davis a star overseas. He is being pushed in our faces, how you cannot see this is beyond me. Thiago Alves is more exciting, has lots of FOTN wins, and has beaten Davis and he is only just starting to make the main cards......

I agree he is getting some fights designed to make him look good, but it definitely wasn't a given that he was going to beat Spratt; the Secret Weapon ain't no joke.
That said, I like the idea of him facing Burkman or Swick next, or my original idea of Chonan.

Plus Alves beat marcus davis when they were both relatively newcomers into the sport and it was by split decision anways... however I do get where you are coming from. Some people are getting more attention whereas other deserving ones aren't.
I agree that he should fight chonan or the winner of burkman/swick.. hey why not chris lytle.. that'll be one exciting fight

Both Davis and Fitch should be inline for a title shot soon. They should make them fight each other. Then perhaps give the winner a fight with Sierra-St. Pierre winner.

GSP
Serra
Hughes
Fitch
Shields
Kos
Karo
Those imo are solid top 10
Then you have Diego
Kikuchi- depends if he is actually fighting at 170, or like 160 all depends but I deff have him in the top 10.
Sakurai - same with him. You can't just put him in the top 10 if he is not fighting at 170, his last fight was not at 170. But imo easily top 10.
Condit is another choice.
There is 4 people that are deff above Davis. Their is no doubt in my mind they are all over him.
IMO i think Swick will knock out Burkman first round and go on to win another fight an be borderline top 10. Swick will beat Davis too.

I agree with the Chonan and Lytle mentions. I could see both of those matchups going either way and would definitely gauge where Davis is at in the grand scheme of things. Honestly, I think Guys like Fitch and Kos would manhandle him via ground and pound at this point in time - but he's come so far now who knows what happens given a little more time.

| Davis is definetly one of the best in his division, and i would definetly like to see him fight GSP, Serra, or Hughes sometime soon. GSP would be his hardest opponent out of the three and Serra second, but i think Davis can beat Hughes and in a dominating way. Any three would be great fights for him, but he will probably be set up to fight other contenders before any of these fights could happen. |
