Default Marcus Davis ***Spoiiler***

Marcus Davis looked impressive once again with a quick KO of Jess Liaudin. 11 fight win streak with 6 of them being in the UFC. He finished off 9 of those 11 too. I am a huge fan of him for sure.

Right now the way I view him... he's basically on a Jon Fitch streak (prior to the diego fight). Pretty much beating relative sub-par fighters. Fitch didn't face anyone really noteworthy until he fought diego and I think it's time for Marcus Davis to have a fight with a top 10 too. The problem is that no one is really available in time... unless it's hughes. However, I doubt they will go that path... as it will be a huge blow if any of them loses and only davis can get credibility by beating hughes. Plus they're probably waiting for Serra vs Hughes anyways.

Maybe a fight with Kos... maybe in may or june could could make sense. However, Kos' superior wrestling should get him a decision.. I donno who do you guys think that Davis should be matched up with next?

No telling. Most of the decent WWs are tied up at the moment. Normally I'd say Kos, but he'll just keep taking Davis down and laying on him.

Maybe Chonan?

I think that Davis has some of the best hands at WW, but I just don't think he can hang with the elite on the ground.

Guy has great potential, but If I were his trainer I would focus 100% of his time on ground work, we know his stand up is there but what about his Ground Game against top level guys?
i actually think the weakest part of his game is not his ground game... it's his kicks. He knows he's such a great boxer, that he sometimes doesn't throw enough kicks to come in the pocket. Although that's how he set up Jess Liadin .

Hiis underutilization of kicks in his fight with taylor is one of the reasons he was in big trouble in the first place.

I say give him the winner of Swick/Burkman, the timing is perfect.

i'd like to see him fight the winner of swick/burkman, or koscheck. i like the guy a lot too. he's made more money than most welterweights in the last year because he goes in there and fights and entertains and no matter what you think of the quality of his opponents, he's going in there to fight. now is time for him to take a considerable step up in competition. i wouldn't mind him facing karo or alves after their fight either. i'm really high on this guy and am not talking title shot or saying he can beat these people, but i know he's gonna make it interesting.

Fitch prior to his win over Diego and Marcus Davis right now couldnt have been more different. Fitch had 4 wins over top 20 welterweights, not one of which was shown on TV. The last 4 of Marcus' wins have been against decent fighters and they have all been hyped and put on the main card. Marcus is the Roger Huerta of the welterweight division, the UFC is force feeding him to us.

Fitch had wins over Larson, Hironaka, and Alves before they even put him on TV. Marcus had a win over Forrest Petz.

It is definitely time for Davis to step it up a few. He has enough steam and following behind him that if he loses, he can bounce back. Give him a game opponent.

his fight with hironaka was aired... as a matter of fact i was just watching that fight on dvd before replying to this msg.

how is marcus davis being fed to us?
-did ufc plan the fact that him and taylor were going to be the fight of the night?
- his fight with jason tan was originally a prelim but it was aired bcuz it was ko of the night.
- His fight with pete spratt wasn't aired, even though he finished off spratt with a great achilles lock (plus it was an exciting fight).
- the only reason they aired the shonie carter fight was because of shonie not because of marcus davis. Davis dominated him in that fight.
- and his fight with petz wasn't aired.. even tho it was finished quick

fitch is a much better fighter than davis... however davis is a more exciting fighter... which r exactly the kind of fighters that ufc puts on tv. I'm not saying fitch is not exciting or good.. i'm saying davis is more exciting

Davis is going out there, fighting his heart out and has kept improving... you can be disgruntled about fitch not getting enough tv time but don't just come out and say b.s like davis is being pushed in our face. They don't have much to gain by pushing a 35 year old who may never get a title shot.
