it doesn't make sense to me that he would cut weight to 220 to fight at heavyweight when he doesn't need to cut any weight. Unless you have personally asked him and he has told you this is what he does then sorry but i'm not gonna trust you on that. Also I have never heard of a fighter ridding himself of muscle by cutting weight. He would have to cut 15 pounds to make 205 if he walks around at 220. There are fighters that cut much more. Before his fight with tito, forrest was at 230 and he cut down to 205. If you don't believe me then go to spike tv.com and watch the road to tito. It shows him weighing himself. Also, Rich Franklin cuts down massively to make 185.

Most fighters cut weight to be in tip top shape. People don't normally walk around at their natural weight. Natural weight is the lowest weight you can possibly be and still be healthy. Cro Cop is is at his natural weight at 220, he probably walks around at 250 and still doesn;t look fat.

Also no one needs to ask anybody about cutting weight, if you knew about the training aspect of fighters then your would know all fighters cut weight unless their trying to move up in weight (in which case they start lifting weights to gain bulk and end up having to cut weight again) but they become slower in the process.

All fighters gain weight during their off time, it's just common knowlege, do your research. And fighters rehydrate themselves after making weight so they will have as much energy as possible, because it's very draining trying to vut weight to make weight. But very essential to a fighters success, to be as strong as possible at as light a weight as possible to take advantage of their strength.

Most fighters don't gain a lot of weight in their off time ,b/c most fighters train during their off time.

harlemhustle(greatname), I wrestled in college and I've boxed so don't tell me about cutting weight. I've been doing it for years. Your points suck and quit bringing up boxing over and over. Different sports and different training. After Fedor pounds his ass and he will! What does Mirko do? You think Pride is gonna make the Mirko vs. Fedor fight over and over? He wants to be heavyweight champ but if he can't beat the champ, and he can't, drop the weight and get himself a belt.

It seems like your response to everyone is to say that they know nothing about fighting. So I would like to point out that you know nothing of the english language. I refuse to go further in this debate until you learn to spell correctly. The more I read of your posts, the more ignorant you sound to me. I do not need to watch boxing to know about cutting weight. Just because YOU say that all fighters cut weight DOES NOT make it true. Also, just so you know, we are not talking about boxing here. I do not know where you are getting this information that cutting weight causes muscle loss. Cutting weight is a fighter removing the water weight from their body. There is no fat loss and subsequently no muscle loss. If you are going to try and insult me, then next time you might at least TRY to sound like you know what you are saying. Pick up a dictionary or maybe a medical journal. |
