[QUOTE=Storm442]Well, to be fair... if Cro-cop fights at 220, then he also probably walks around at 235-240. That's a fair amount of weight to cut to get down to 205.

.
No one cuts weight when they are under their division, they just build muscle and stamina. By the way, I was a 227 lb. HW wrestler in a 275 lb. state weight limit, TRUST ME I KNOW THIS.

No, he may cut some fat through intensifying his cardio regime in the run up to a fight, but he will not cut water.

He could cut at least 20lbs of water if he wanted, but it could slightly effect his performance (although not through losing muscle, just through losing muscle cell water)

Yeah, just liike Fedor he is clearly going for the big prize. However, if Fedor owns him in the rematch it could make sense to try 205 - there would be no shame in that (far from it). I'm not sure what's going to happen here... I'll just wait and see.

git.

Naw, just keep training, get better, and maybe he'll get another shot at the title, anything can happen in MMA and Cro Cop definately has the power to kick Fedor's head into another world (and dont be surprised if it happens, Cro Cop is going to do his homework).

And I guarantee everybody on here will scream "NOW I THINK CHUCK CAN BEAT FEDOR" if fedor was to lose to Cro Cop. Such band wagon riders, and Nit Pickers( only if applicable).

I think dropping weight to fight smaller fighters is pussy, especially if your already a really good HW. I think Randy was really a blown up LHW so he came down.

Hypergit said it best, all fighters will lose weight(fat) while training because of the sheer intensity of their training and typically a good diet. Then if the fighter is still over their weight class, they then cut water weight.

Using this concept, Crocop probably walks around at 240 when not training and then gets to 220 through diet and intense training. Thereby, he would only have to cut 15lbs of water to make weight. Thats not a tremendous amount of water for a guy of that size.

killer is the only one that makes sense. You don't cut weight if you don't have to. Crocop walks around at his fighting weight (give or take 5 lbs). By the way, the HW title is a joke in the UFC. Every other title holds more interest except for the new lightweight that is coming back.

Wow, we've really got two camps of thought here on "normal" weight (if you're under the belt limit)

Is there an article/interview with a fighter that's under the limit by a fair amount (Arlovsky, Cro-Cop, Kongo, Mir) that would clear this up? Most those guys fight at approx 240 which is well under the 265 limit.

Perhaps some fighters use one method, and other fighters use a different one (cut to 240 -or- stay at 240 year round), and we're ALL right?
I'm curious to read some facts...

Here's a article about why and how to cut weight. And what happens if too much weight is cut and if it's done improperly.

There is an episode of UFC all access that features Arlovsky. In the episode Rachele leah asks him if he will need to cut weight for the fight. He replies with no, but he watches what he eats because he doesn't want to lose his six pack. So Andrei fights at the weight he walks around at.
