I, for one, am not following younger fighters by watching them on PPV. I'm going to live events and watching DVDs. Thus when they show up on TUF or a UFC event, I'm already familiar with them, and have enjoyed watching them improve their game.

I liken it more to: you only want to watch the Superbowl and I want to watch the whole season. I'm not knocking that. I think you have a lot of company. Hell there are people on this forum and others who write off anyone who is not in the top 10 of their weight class as a loser. That's OK, but it is shortsighted.

I certainly don't think watching it all makes me or Lethal less of a MMA fan, if anything, it makes us more so.

Hey, if you are one of the people who actually goes out and attends small venues, then more power to ya. I, for one, have never attended a small MMA venue

Yeah, sure the younger guys have to debut at the UFC at some point in their careers but most of the guys at UFC events are not very good. The ones that are good do make an impression and they are justified but it doesnt happen as often as we would like.

There are good fighters out there and for UFC Events, they should pay the money to bring those fighters in instead of having bunch of newcomers fill the fightcards.

how the hell is it weak at all? its just like that guy who said that the pride owgp would suck.

#1 ww matt hughes vs. #3 ww bj penn who had a close close fight with gsp and previousally beat hughes face again. great fight

up in commer mike swick vs. david louasso, his toughest test yeat. we get to see if swick can hang with the top mw's. if he beats david he might get a title shot in the future. but im sure the crow wont go down as fast as mike's previous opponents.

sheeit, the main event is the only thing worth watching on this card. the undercard is again filled with nobodies cept for Gurgel, Abaddi (still technically a nobody) and Tyson Griffin. and what happed to Gonzaga? i don't like him, but seems he's off now and has been replaced by another nobody...

UFC really needs to save these nobodies for Fight Nights and put the real deals on PPv...

Get the point? I wanna see the big boys fight.
Dude, I got no problem with your point of view but I live in Maryland. There isn't any local venues to go see live MMA matches. Not even minor league shows.

UFC events, no matter what the level of competiton, are like diamonds to us. UFC is water cooler talk at work. Its weekly discussion at our card game. We watch UFC PPV matches at the local Hooters sports bar and every time we go, we are bringing one or two new guys with us. Its as close as we'll get to having a "big fight" MMA atmosphere for some time in this state.

In the UFC, at least we get competitive matches. Guys of close skills level and interesting style match-ups. To the average guys I hang with, they don't care about other organizations or fighters in Japan somewhere...they wanna see competive matches. They want to see guys they remember from the TUF show. We've started to root for our favorites...who gives a shit that they are not the top 10 in the world.

Now that I've been online and watched a few other organizations, I see that there are a lot better competiton out there. But hell I have to watch these matches mostly by myself or on my computer. WTF! Who the hell am I going to talk to about those matches?

For the $20 bucks in beer and wings i throw in the pot with my boys, we have one hell of time! We get to talk shit with each other and the standing room only crowd at the sports bar. And when we go home, we are waiting on the next big show.

Say what you will, I'm excited about next weeks UFC 63. Though I like Hughes, I hope Penn pulls an upset. I hope Guillard KO's homeboy. Can't wait to see the return of Lil Evil! I hope Rashad Evan GnP's his opponent and shuts the haters up!

Hey, I got no problem with your point of view either.

My friends and I have a very different atmosphere when it is time for UFC and Pride. UFC we dont get too excited about fights until the main events, whereas Pride tournaments we're pretty much glued to the TV from start to finish.

And thats the difference for us between UFC and Pride because we clearly see that there are differences in the quality of fighting between UFC and Pride. And all of my friends only cared for UFC only about three or four montsh ago. Now, it is a different story.

Anyways, thats all for now.

I'm not bashing you or antyhting....but it just seems like your watching for the fighters and not the fights...I think you should change your outlook on MMA and not watch just cause one guy is fighting, but watch cause there is an event on....if your more open minded about the fighters, I think that you'll like the fights better

when I sarted watchign I hate ground and grappling, but I gave it a chance and now I love Ground fights...anyways, juist a thought

Is MMA not sanctioned in Maryland?

I would have to agree. The card looks weak outside of BJ/Penn. There really is not another main event calibur matchup.

There never is! And I'm fine with that. The UFC has always had the main event plus a featured fight. This time, Swick vs. Loiseau is featured. Many seem to disagree and think that Swick is weak but I say he stops Loiseau in this one.

When I said Pride events are better overall, I was speaking more about the fights than the fighters themselves.

I found fights in Pride to be much more techinical and even the striking aspect of it was better in Pride. You can clearly tell that talent in Pride is better than UFC.

I wouldn't say unknown fighters make bad fights because that is not true and often times they prove it. But I've seen enough bad fights during the UFC events that in between the first fight and the last two doesnt excite me anymore.

I am not saying I wouldnt watch UFC because I will for sure, but UFC should definitely do something to make the events better. They can create better matchups and bring in better fighters but they just decide not to.

Its like having musicians making one good song for their album and adding 14 "filler" songs that no one would care about. The customers or its fans can get frstrated and feel disrespected. Not all but some of them will.

UFC is hot right now in US but they can't let their guards down. They need to bring in better fighters and have a better fightcard than what they're offering. That's just a one man's opinion
