Fedor has a whole lot more buzz around him as a fighter than Barnett does, and it's been that way for years; therefore the buzz turns negative when he's not fighting other top-5 or at least top-10 HW's. Barnett, who has little buzz, also has little negative buzz. | Barnett is ranked anywhere between 2 and 4 (3 on MMANews for example)..
Regardless of the position, it is the same senario.. #1 guy or #9 guy... people go way to hard on Fedor and it is silly.

Well Barnett fought so many times in 06 that a year off break isn't that hard to understand. Neither fighter should drop from their ranking spots

It's a different thing altogether, being worldwide unanimous #1 vs. being anything other than # 1.

Music to my ears, Barnett back and fighting again. I think he is going to beat the crap out of Yoshida though. Barnett vs Aleks II at least has the potential for a good standup war and Aleks has the power to end the fight. Yoshida will get mauled if he tries to stand with Barnett and his takedowns are not good enough to get Barnett on his back and Barnett's subs are as good as Yoshida's so it will likely just be Barnett beating Yoshida's ass for the fights entirety. Yoshida vs Roger and Barnett vs Aleks II would've been more to my liking, I think those matchups are better suited for close fights and the Yoshida vs Roger would've been a technical masterpiece.

If World Victory Road is promoting, can we assume Gomi will be fighting?

It's a different thing altogether, being worldwide unanimous #1 vs. being anything other than # 1. | What in god's name are you babbling about? The difference between being ranked number 1 and number 2 is the exact same thing in comparison to being ranked number 2 and 3. It is a step down in both scenarios if you don't take the fighters actual records, accomplishments, and skillsets into account. Otherwise you are just spewing random numbers. If you did then you would realize that there are other divisions where the number 1 and 2 ranked fighters are allot closer to each other's abilities then there are at other divisons.
Rampage and Hendo are a very close 1 and 2 ranking, and so is Silva and Hendo... compared to Fedor and who ever is ranked number 2 where the solidity in his number 1 ranking is much more justified (especially with Nog beating Sylvia).
It's going to be allot harder for people to bitch about Fedor's ranking now after last night's fight.

Barnett talks about the rumored match with Aleks and the rumored match of Roger/Yoshida on his Myspace blog: MySpace.com Blogs - Josh Barnett MySpace Blog - Codex Barnetticus Quote: |

Also, to my knowledge there was never a Roger Gracie vs. Yoshida match. We have been talking with WVR for a long time creating a contract and Yoshida was who was offered from the beginning. I don't know who put out the rumors or why some news outlets accepted it as fact but there was never a Roger vs. Yoshida fight. Just some wishful thinking on some manager's part perhaps. | |
