AA's Sambo > Vera's ground game

AA has been playing it safe. He has the 'Tim Sylvia Syndrome' right now, but i think he'll grow out of it.

Don't forget that Brandon was invited to ADCC Intellect, his loss there was to John Olav Einemo who is 6'6 with sick Jits.:::edit::: (I totally did not mean to make that rhyme) 6-1 in mma with 5 subs. His only MMA loss came at the hands of Fabricio Wedum. And Vera took him to decision. the boy can grapple.

really? the only way? suddenly arlovski doesn't have knockout power? vera may have better subs than andrei, but wedum couldn't do anything to keep him down or get him in any danger, so i doubt vera will, on the ground at least. i'm not saying arlovski beats him, just that its ignorant to say that he can't.

He hasn't gone to the ground because he hasn't had to, or it would have been stupid. Since he subbed Sylvia, let's look at his fights:

Buentello: 17 second KO.
Eilers: Don't make me laugh.
Sylvia II: Got KO'd in the first few minutes, and almost impossible to take Tim down.
Sylvia III: Injured, see Sylvia II.
Cruz: BJJ black belt. Would YOU go to the ground?
Werdum: See Cruz.

Arlovski has sick sambo, he just chooses not to utilize it most of the time because he CAN knock out most people. If Arlovski gets his shit together and lets his hands go, he'll KO Vera.

And Vera will NOT sub AA.

Yea! and Werdum was not even 100% when he fought Arlovski(Suffering from Injury)...and if Werdum and Arlovski fought today it would be a bad night for AA, remember Gonzaga? hhmmm?

I don't know about that... I don't think he has faced many cans since he came into the UFC.
- After fighting Scherner, he faced Eilers... who fought for the championship before fighting Vera. Ever since he lost to Vera, he has been 9-1. I have never liked Eilers but saying Vera fought a can is pushing it.
- After that, he fought Ausserio Silva who gave Tim a tough fight right before he fought Vera... there's no way he's a can either.
- Then he fought Frank Mir, a former champ... you can say that he wasn't the same frank mir but that was no can... he got him straight on the button.
- Then he fought Tim Sylvia a year later, broke his hand early in the first round which obviously threw his gameplan. The only round he really lost was round 3. Round 1 was a toss up and round 2 he clearly won.

For a guy as light as Vera, he's a killer out there. His MT is really good.

Exactly! AA is a junior World Sambo Champion! Fedor has been quoted saying he thinks AA is currently one of the best in the world. Anyone who thinks Vera is gonna control AA on the ground, let alone sub him..... Good luck with that. The only way I see Vera winning is KO or TKO or decision. I think AA's gonna destroy O'Brian. He gains some confidence and starts letting his hand go.... He'll KO Vera.

I do find it ironic that he may be leaving the UFC and gets called out.
