Ok so the better question instead of How is Why? He's a tough fighter and could probably do very well outside of Zuffa. Sure Zuffa is where the action is at, but if you know you are being put in there as a gate keeper of sorts why not go someplace else?

His last fight was the only UFC fight he's had for some time. I assumed you heard somewhere that he's in a binding contract with the UFC now. If he isn't than I don't think the case is that he doesn't go to other organizations. He has, plenty of times.

In addition to him being tough and Canadian, he wins almost every time outside of the UFC. He is definitely UFC caliber, he just doesn't fight cans.

Joe is a tough opponent for anyone.
