I think rankings are a great idea...
Only if they do like boxing and have contenders fight longer fights, I know there isn't much leeway. But I feel that 2 contenders fighting should be 5 rounds. I think it takes a lot out of controversial decisions. One to use a 10 point must system in a three round fight is ridiculous, for the mere fact if a fighter gets a one point penalty he will lose 1 out of 3 rounds... its not like boxing where you can bounce back from a penalty in MMA if you get a penalty you have to win every round to win the fight, which is stupid.
Most of the time a five round fight is a pretty much a decisive decision and it also gives more time to allow for subs and KOs... look at a fight like Silva/Liddel, that should definitely been a five rounder. They were just loosening up in the third round.
UFC needs rankings to give contenders a proper platform for earning title fights. It won't affect TUF... it's not the law... that would be far from a reason not to do it. If I am not mistaken TUF winners don't always get title shots do they?

It wont be the whole world it will be UFC that is the only way it works... and besides ufc fighters are exclusive, there would be no purpose to world rankings... has nothing to do with title shots... Sounds reasonable to me... As long as they don't refer it to being the rankings for all of MMA, it's fine, and they need to do one...
