"sherk couldnt finish a sandwich" what makes you think he could finish bj?
crap sorry for double post.

With that being said, if it does go rounds then Sherk's chances will obviously go up. Since I am a huge BJ fan, that is the only thing I am worried about. I think Sherk is lucky to even get this fight right now. I think he should be knocked back to the bottom and have to work his way back up. | Who of any of the other LW's would beat Shawn Shrek?? He would destroy Huerta and Tyson Griffen has got a couple lucky decision wins. The only person I could think of that might give him a good fight would be Frankie Edgar. Shawn Sherk can take a better punch then Joe Stevenson can. I do give the standup each to Bj for sure. Bj has one of the best sub games in the world but Shawns is way underrated. Who are the 2 guys that Shawn have lost to?? Matt Hughes and GSP and he was not subbed by either of them. Shawn has awsome wrestling that will keep him in this fight. Im sure Bj will win the first round and maybe the second but after that Shawn's cardio will take over.
This is going to be one of the best fights of the year and I cant wait to see it. I hope that when Shawn wins everyone doest start making excuses for Bj and people start giving Shawn the respect he deserves.

Where did this misconception come from? He wrestled in highschool. He's wrestling is NOT world class by any definition. BJ Penn's grappling is better than Sherk's. You will see this as fact after the fight. Jens Pulver is a more accomplished wrestler than Sherk This is an undisputed fact. How was Pulvers grappling against BJ last time? Sherks cardio is world class. But it's hard for your cardio to carry you through a fight with blood running down your throat.
I have to tell you I get a good laugh every time someone says Sherk has "awesome" wrestling. it's absurd.

I will have no excuses. Sherk's JJ is probably underrated, but it is no where near the level of BJ's. His only thing is his strength. He will be able to get out of a lot on pure strength alone. But BJ's flexibility is ridiculous. It will be a war no doubt because Sherk is very tough, but I just see BJ pulling this out. I mean the guy was fighting in the past training as little as possible...now he is 100% focused and training religiously....that will be a totally different BJ.
Oh, and I give Sherk respect. I think he is a great fighter and executes his gameplan very well. But I'll never believe that he didn't take steroids. I have thought that for a long time. I have been around steroids for a long time...and that was one of the first things I said when I saw him. That test killed much of the respect that I had for his fighting.
Oh yeah, I believe that Stevenson will beat Sherk as well. Not to mention Edgar.

The Sherk/BJ fight will look pretty much like BJ/Stevenson. BJ will hurt Sherk on his feet and once it hits the ground BJ will get the submission. BJ by RNC in the 2nd round.
On a side note, did anyone else notice that it looks like Sherk has herpes......Gross. lol

Are you going to take the Sigbet with KnowledgeKnown? If he doesn't want to do a shorter one [and I'm sure he would...] I'd be happy to do a two week bet. We could also do an Av if you accept KnowledgeKnown's offer.
But as far as Sherk taking a better punch, he's never faced anyone with the striking or the submission skills BJ has--never mind the combination of the two.
I do feel Stevenson and Edgar would both beat Sherk...Joe 6 out of 10, Frankie 5 out of 10.
rh
eight, if you count "Shrek"

BJ Penn beat Matt Hughes several years ago. Now BJ is a FAR better fighter than he was then. Sherk has a very similar style to Hughes, but isn't nearly as talented or well rounded as Hughes was a few years ago. BJ wins this fight easily.

Now, that being said, I am going to assume his innocence, until his day in court, and think he deserves to fight BJ Penn and rectify the LW division and see who the better man is. I personally can't wait to see this fight, and think it will be an AWESOME fight!

He can deny it all he wants...he tested POSITIVE FOR STEROIDS! He may have taken them by accident (those of us who say his "All Access" will know what I mean) but that's not an excuse. Even if he DID take them by accident, he still won the belt while on steroids and should have been stripped.
We'll see how he looks when he walks out to the octagon and takes off his shirt. My guess is that he'll have some slight love-handles and have a small belly.
