I dont understand what they'd be suing about. They're just pissed that they made a stupid business decision. They were trying to reconstruct some of fighters' contracts for less money and putting additonal restictuons, so many of them left. Lawyers can always come up with bullshit so there will be something there I suppose but what could they possibly bitch about?

This shows how Dana is a sore losing bitch. He bad mouths everyone he gets the short end of the stick from.
They wont win a lawsuit. They bought Pride while it was falling apart and didn't understand how to do business in Japan. Pride had already lost their tv contract. I would be really interested in finding out if there was real fraud here. I doubt it. It sounds more like a shot in the dark to get some cash back on a terrible business deal. Remember UFC PPV buys were lower in 2007 than 2006, shouldn't that 78 million dollar investment that they purged helped them a bit?

DO YOU REALLY LOVE SEEING A FIGHTER GETTING STOMPED ON THE HEAD WITH A KICK WHILE FIGHTER IS DOWN?
I bet you do...
THEN... the fighter die's... and there is OUTRAGE!
Then comes them dumn politicians talking about human pitbull fighting... and it needs to be BANNED!???
I love what pride built... but there MUST be rules to protect fighters from live threatening injuries...
Then again... if you don't care... maybe you should go and find an underground ring... where you can fight with weapons?
C YA PRIDE... you would have NEVER made it maintream with your rules! |
Elbows on the ground are worse than knees, they are responsible for most of the cuts that make people say its just a blood sport and UFC fans just want blood.
Myself I don't wanna see blood and would trade elbows to knees any day.
The Bloody fights and the Cage gives MMA a bad image not a ring.
What do you put in cages?? animals, people equate Cages with animals.

Lawyers can always come up with bullshit so there will be something there I suppose but what could they possibly bitch about? | If Pride misrepresented their assets when they were trying to get bought out by the UFC, they would clearly be vulnerable to a lawsuit. If you lie and then somebody acts a certain way because of that lie, you are in trouble legally. Given the complete clusterfuck that the Pride purchase has been, I think its a reasonable scenario that Pride wasnt completely honest.
Lets not pretend that this was Dana's choice to buy Pride. I hate you people blame everything that happens in MMA on Dana (from referee decisions to ownership decisions). Its not his money and he owns a very small chunk of Zuffa. This was the F Brother's choice, and they know business. You dont get to be billionaires if you dont. Its a reasonable guess (although nothing is certain since we werent privy to the details) that because the Pride purchase went so bad and that there were so many bad surprises for Zuffa after the purchase, that DSE wasnt being completely honest.

Myself I don't wanna see blood and would trade elbows to knees any day. | I think blood and the "blood-sport" image is one thing, and the safety of the fighters is another thing. A lot more force and damage can be given with knees, especially to the head, relative to the more superficial cuts that elbows can deliver.
Elbows ARE the cause for a majority of the cuts, but I think they are safer than knees. This is why knees to the body are allowed, but not to the head. I'm not even going to discuss the safety of kicking and/or stomping to the head of a downed opponent.
A line has to be drawn somewhere, and there will always be people left on different sides.

I'd be furious if I was a high-up over at Zuffa. You wasted $60 million and lost one of your most marketable assets (Couture) because you made that purchase under false pretenses. Stop with these bullshit 300 comparisons, because if anything, it seems like Zuffa were the victims here

I am sure Zuffa got screwed in the deal. I have little doubt of that. I also think the fans got screwed, especially the Japanese fans who lost Pride. I guess there is a part of me that likes to see Dana lose though. He is always so damned cocky and arrogant and I always enjoy watching an asshole lose. I guess it is satisfying when the asshole that irritates you meets another one who bests them. Zuffa got a business beat down.
