Default Keith Jardine the next LHW Champion?

Jardine thinks he'll get the next title shot

Quote:
Should he win his next fight (possibly against Wanderlei Silva), Keith Jardine feels a chance at the UFC light heavyweight championship could be coming his way.

There’s a good chance (Forrest Griffin) wins the fight (with Rampage Jackson) and that means I’m in line to get the next fight,” said Jardine.

Clearly, Jardine will be rooting for Griffin in Griffin’s June title shot against Jackson. Jardine defeated Griffin via TKO in under five minutes when they first fought in December 2006. Since then, Jardine has gone 1-1. Jardine’s loss was a shocking one - a brutal first round KO at the hands of Houston Alexander, but the win was a big one - a September 2007 decision victory over Chuck Liddell.
OK, if he gets past Wanderlei, if, and he does beat the titleholder at the time, I really would not be sure if i would like someone like Jardine holding the belt. IMO he's just too far on the dull side to be champion. Granted, Chuck isnt the most charismatic person on the planet but he creates some pretty exciting fights. Rampage is the exact opposite of these two and i think its great for MMA to have a character like that at the top. JMO though, any thoughts?

I think Jardine is getting way ahead of himself here. He beat Chuck but it wasn't the same Chuck that beat Wanderlei. I think if Jardine wins his next fight he'll be fighting the winner of Chuck/Shogun for a title shot.

I don't think he's going to get past Wandi. Jardine thows a lot of leg kicks, and Wandi is more apt to catch one and bring him down than Chuck was.

And I don't think he'd beat Forrest in a rematch, or Jackson, ever.

God I hope he doesn't become champ, I just can't stand watching him fight. His jerky putter step style is worse than Tim Sylvia.

Wandy please put this boy back in his room.

He's got all the tools to become champ. If he beats Wandy then that will mean he has victories over Wandy and Chuck. You can retire with those two on your win list. I like Jardine and while I will, with all my heart pull for Wandy I won't be shocked if he loses.

I Think Jardine Will Make It A Fight But Wandy War Took Everything Chuck Had And Never Let Up Nor Did He Back Out From The Fight Unlike Chuck Who Used Cheap Takedowns To Get Favor From Judges, Jardine Did `nt Take The Shots Wandy Took And Will Have To Deal With A Better Fighter In Wandy Who Should Be More Focused Than In The Liddell Fight And Not Have All The Distractions From The First And Should Be Back To Form And Ready To Make Another Run At The Title!!

I agree Jardine will bring the fight but how can you sit behind that keyboard and say, as you put it, "Unlike Chuck Who Used Cheap Takedowns"? How is a takedown cheap?? they stood and banged for the first 2 and 1/2 rounds. Chuck saw an opportunity and took it. Personally i'm glad he took wand down. I was begining to wonder if he remembered that he can actually do that. If you think Chuck backed down from any kind of fight in that bout you must be out of you mind.

Jardine deserves a lot more credit here. I think he can beat Wanderlie Silva and I'm pretty damn sure he can beat Griffin again, now Jackson...that's another story. I think he's right though. If he beats his next opponent that should earn him a title shot and if he's fighting Griffin for the title I'd bet on him. Besides his fighting style, I like it.. poses a real problem and there is never a gimme fighting Jardine he can take you down or strike with you and his personality...since when did you need that to be champion!?!? You won't see this guy outside of a press conference or octagon anyway!!!!!
