Jesse Moreng (8-1) injured his leg during a training session this past Thursday and has been scratched from his bout with Scott Jorgenson (4-1), which was set to take place at Wednesday’s WEC 32 event in Albuquerque, N.M. In his place will step local Team Jackson fighter Damacio Page (9-3).
The news was posted today on WEC.tv, the official website of the WEC.
Wednesday’s main card airs live on the Versus network. However, the Page-Jorgenson fight will take place on the night’s un-televised preliminary card. The WEC hasn’t confirmed if the bout will take place at bantamweight or featherweight.
Page, who’s been with Greg Jackson’s camp since 2004, began his career with six straight victories, but he’s 1-2 in his past three fights. After suffering submission losses to Danny Batten and former UFC fighter Genki Sudo, he bounced back for a knockout victory over Rod Montoya at a March 2007 Extreme Challenge event. Of his nine victories, five have come via knockout and four via submission.
“Fighting in the WEC has always been a goal for me,” Page told WEC.tv. “I’m always training, so I’m not concerned about the short notice. I always come to fight.“
Jorgenson most recently competed at EliteXC’s “ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series” event in July and defeated Chris David (8-7-2) with a unanimous-decision victory. The Ring of Fire vet is making his WEC debut.
