Default Does the UFC have any plans to have a show in Brazil?

I mean it only makes sense. You have the dominant Anderson Silva as middleweight champion. You have Nog as current HW champion. You have both Wandy and Shogun who is possibly the next LHW champion. Why no plans for a show in rio de jenerio? I mean I know Rich Franklin got to fight in his hometown! I know alot of fighters do! Especially champions. The UFC is even having an event in Montreal for GSP! Thats why for instance IF Fedor was a dominant HW champion in the UFC for like 3 or 4 fights I don't find it hard to understand having an event in Russia. I know the costs from expanding like this is alot but I think its worth the investment. I think this would better work out if the UFC had a major network deal like with hbo or something to share the costs of all of this. This is why they're able to host big boxing events in the ukraine. Just a thought.

If they went to Brazil they could allow soccer kicks and everything that the NSAC doesn't allow, and yes I think having 2 brazilians as world champions plus many others in their roster would help the UFC out there.

What comes to mind in this case is ticket prices, I know the most expensive seats in a UFC ppv are nearly 800 bucks... can people in Brazil afford to pay over 1 million dollars in gate revenue??? Plus having a show in Brazil is more expensive than having one in Vegas... so I don't know, somebody ask Dana.

No, they couldn't. They're not going to change the rules of the sport just because they're in a different country, UFC has an image to uphold.
UFC has no business in Brazil any time soon anyway. The only markets they clearly wanted to expand into, aside from N. America, are Japan and Europe because that's where money is. Yeah, Brazilian economy is on the upswing but there are huge safety issues, with slums, druglords and such as well as immense income disparity resulting in most of the population not being capable of being a kind of consumer UFC might've wanted.

when you listen to Dana, you would think there is going to be a ppv on the moon. so why not brazil or maybe your back yard , lol, if dana gets his way. I wonder about rioting if there fighters lost? if soccer is any indication i would say, yes.

Just make sure Anderson Silva is the headline and you wont have to worry about their fighter losing

Based on what? Their combined 0-2 record in the cage? As always, your logic is impeccable.

I say no, they won't be doing a show in Brazil anytime soon if at all. Belts change hands frequently, and theres a good chance in a few weeks there will be only 1 remaining Brazillian champ in the UFC.

Not to mention, 'regulated' MMA probably wouldn't sell in Brazil, where Rio Heroes and bare knuckle vale tudo call home.

i heard something about it about a year or two ago, but i only heard it from gurgel and then i heard nothing else. if they did venture to brazil though, it could very easily be their most stacked ppv if they made sure to put the major brazilian players on it. imagine a card with

Anderson Silva
Nogueira
Werdum
Gonzaga
Wanderlei Silva
Shogun Rua
Thiago Silva
Ricardo Almeida
Thiago Alves
Thiago Tavares
Jorge Gurgel

it'd be hard to put that many high-salaried fighters on one card though.

I could be wrong, but I thought Dana said UFC would probably never go to 2 places: Russia and Brazil.....

Anyone who can provide a link will get some rep, because I can't find where he said they will never go to Russia because of corruption..

I thought he said never in Brazil because of safety..
