| Gary Shaw: ‘Dana [White] ruined [Brock Lesnar] right off the bat’ Quote: |
“I like Brock, but it just shows that Dana doesn’t know what he’s doing. Every time he signs someone, they get beat right away. I guess if you want to get beat right away, you should go to the UFC. It’s like I said all along, Dana didn’t invent mixed martial arts, he doesn’t own the best fighters in the world and he doesn’t have the best fights in the world. He should come down and look at our show, although I’m sure he watches them free on Showtime. I feel badly because Brock could’ve been a star and he ruined him right off of the bat. It was a bad match-up.”

So Dana should have thrown Brock a can? As we've pointed out on this forum plenty of times, this was a no-lose situation for Dana. If Mir won, they educate more people on the MMA skill set, and he gets a push. If Brock won, he beats a former UFC champ and really becomes the next big thing.
Anyone who knows shit about MMA isn't surprised that Brock lost. He needed to have that happen to him, just so he could realize exactly what he was getting himself into...a loss, and whether or not it motivates him after the fact, is much more telling than a win.

Is Gary Shaw a moron? He must be...
Brock asked for TOP COMPETITION. Brock wanted a top fighter, he didn't want a gimme.. that is what Brock asked for... how is that Dana's fault?

Seems like a contradiction to me...

Yeah I mean...this WHOLE fight did wonders for both parties, win-lose-draw (except maybe Mir if he lost). Quote: |

Every time he signs somebody they get beat right away? I guess you had better tell that to Big Nogs, or Rampage, or A Silva...I could go on but its stupid.
Gary Shaw lecturing Dana about business decisions is also a laugh. Boxing promoters like Shaw are usually regarded as the reason that boxing is in the crapper and how Dana does things in terms of matchups is usually considered a big reason why the UFC is a success.

ummm did Gary watch the same fight that I watched. Brock was very impressive for his debut fight in the UFC and only 2nd MMA fight. A former HW champion, Mir, came within a hair from losing to Brock. That is a pretty big ass impact to me.
Anyways I dont take what Gary Shaw says about Dana and co seriously... they are constantly going at each other.

WOW.. Gary, grow a brain.. Or ask the wizard, he might help.
Throwing Brock a can would've have been dumb, co-signed with Jlruthven84 on that being a no-lose situation. Brock showed that he can do this he just needs more training. Mir winning shows all the WWE fans and new fans that this sport is for real. You can't just walk into the octagon and own without training all areas of the game.
Gary your just mad because you didn't sign brock so shhhh

how the hell did he ruin brock lesnar? If anything, that match was a win-win for both. Brock really dominated Mir and then got caught. People realized Brock was for real and Mir is back in the title scene because of it too.
I thought the way the fight went down was perfect
