| Who are the most complete fighters in mma?
I'm talking about guys that are really good at all aspects of the game: the striking (on the feet and on the ground), the wrestling, and the submissions. Now let's get Fedor out of the way now because I think we can all agree on him being one of them and I think just about everyone will mention him. So, who else is there? The first ones that come to mind for me are Gilbert Melendez, Denis Kang, B.J. Penn and Georges St. Piere.

I agree with Barnett. However, I think big Nog's stand-up isn't that good, he needs to stop training with amatuer boxers (the Cuban team) and start training with pros. You need to train with pro boxers, their style of boxing, to be successful in pro fights. Lil Nog's stand-up is way better and does indeed make the cut. I could never pick Wandy because he's just too wild a puncher, leaves himself too wide open, needs to be more technical with his offense and defense. Crocop showed us this when he took him apart. I also don't think Wandy's and Shogun's wrestling is that good. Wandy's submissions actually make the cut though, he broke Fujita's elbow with an armbar attempt. But this thread is about being really good in EVERY aspect so I can't agree about Wandy and Shogun either. Mach I'm not too familiar with. I've only seen him against Hughes and Gomi. I only know he's considered among the best lightwieghts. As long as he has what it takes in ALL aspects of the game he would make the cut though.

| Some more
I agree with Frank Shamrock. I'm not sure about Rich Franklin though. He trains submissions with Jorge Gurgel whom I've never been impressed by. I guess I'd have to see more of Rich's ground game against some elite fighters to make up my mind about him.

Jason Thacker.
No Just kidding.
As far as complete:
Fedor (obvious)
Penn
Little Nog
Gomi
Kid Yammamoto (althought admittedly I haven't seen enough of his fights but seems extremely well rounded)
Some debateable candidates
Cheick Kongo really suprised me on his all around game in his last fight. Very very suprised.
Matt Hughes even has been stepping up on his Subs/Sub defense (made GSP tap, had a nasty Kimura on Gracie, avoided RNC by Trigg etc..)
I haven't seen Mike Swick get tested yet (aside from his chin getting rocked vs. Leben)
Brandon Vera also hasn't been tested.

Genki Sudo! His wrestling may not be the best, but I believe that is made up for with his stand-up submissions and lethal guard.
git.
